Arrington vs. Shukla Showdown on Social Games

Share:

Very "feisty" chat about advertising and social games between Arrington and Shukla. It's audio to the first 40 seconds only. But it gets interesting when the CEO starts to talk at about minute 1:40. I'm not sure I have quote exactly, but Anu says something like "I heard what Michael (Arrington) said and his insights are shit, double shit and bullshit".

I am not sure that I agree with the point that Facebook is not making money off of social gaming at the expense of Zynga. I think they've gotten quite an edge in additional users through some of their social gaming strategies. My gut is the winner has been FB not so much Zynga (yet).

Oh and if I have a bias on gaming, it's away from virtual goods and more towars making powerful social and location based games that are addicting to play. If you can create that, the location based advertising is far more valuable. Virtual goods are fine but if you take it too far, you inhibit your ability to create that addictive experience that captures a population.
