LAS VEGAS, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- APCO 2009 (Booth 824) -- Motorola, Inc. will be launching and demonstrating several S-EN/Business+Solutions/Technologies/Project+25+%2528P25%2529">Project 25 (P25) solutions, addressing key industry needs and engaging media and public safety experts through social media activities at the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials-International, Inc. (APCO) 75th Annual Conference and Exposition through August 20.

Motorola innovation and leadership in P25 interoperable solutions will be on display at APCO with the launch of the S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">SmartX migration solution that allows for the gradual transition from an existing S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">SmartZone(R) system to an S-EN/Business+Solutions/Technologies/Project+25+%28P25%29/ASTRO_25_Voice_and_Data_Communications_US-EN">ASTRO(R) 25 voice and data network. Motorola is also announcing the launch of the S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">APX O9 Integrated Control Head for the APX(TM) mobile radio line. The one-touch functionality and intuitive controls in one integrated unit provide instant multi-agency S-EN/Business+Solutions/Technologies/Project+25+%2528P25%2529">interoperability for mission critical first responders.

The S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">O9 Control Head is the latest addition to the Motorola APX">APX multi-band family of radios. APX">APX, the industry's first P25 multi-band (700/800 MHz and VHF) family of radios, communicates with current and future S-EN/Business+Solutions/Technologies/Project+25+%2528P25%2529">P25 networks (FDMA and TDMA) and has integrated GPS for situational awareness. As announced in the company's second-quarter financial results, Motorola is now shipping APX(TM) 7000 two-way radios, enabling instant multi-agency interoperability for mission critical first responders.

Since its introduction in August 2008, APX">APX has been recognized by the design community with a number of award recognitions, including the iF Product Design Award and the Australian International Design Award. In addition, the team was named "Design Team of the Year" in the EE Times' Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards and won the A_awards_silver/3.htm">"Silver Award" in BusinessWeek's 2009 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

A live S-EN/Business+Solutions/Technologies/Project+25+%28P25%29/ASTRO_25_Voice_and_Data_Communications_US-EN">ASTRO 25 system will be on display demonstrating a host of advanced communications capabilities including integrated data applications, S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">SmartX platform migration, multi-band operations, S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">ISSI interoperability and spectrally efficient TDMA.

Demonstrating technology that is second nature

Motorola will be demonstrating innovation and technology that is Campaigns/General.htm?WT.mc_id=cityscape_2008020140">second nature across its portfolio of mission critical solutions at APCO. For instance, Motorola will conduct demonstrations of breakthrough, end-to-end video security solutions that correlate multimedia inputs to deliver real-time situational awareness.

In these demonstrations, Motorola will integrate end-to-end video systems with a mission critical S-EN/Business+Solutions/Technologies/Project+25+%2528P25%2529">P25 system to deliver outstanding public safety workflows. S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">ASTRO(TM) 25 Emergency Alerts will automatically trigger neighboring cameras to zoom onto alert coordinates and drive awareness to video operators. S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">ASTRO 25 data services allow responders to utilize two-way radios to proactively identify cameras of interest to video operators.

Motorola will also demonstrate how relevant video can be shared between the video operator and on-scene responders through real-time streaming over mobile broadband. With video management command center applications, high-performing mobile broadband transport, a portfolio of ruggedized mobile computing devices and integration with the S-EN/Government/homepage/index.html">ASTRO 25 system, Motorola is exhibiting the latest end-to-end video security solutions.

Automatic License Plate Recognition and PremierOne(TM) also featured

Motorola and PIPS Technology, a Federal Signal company, are also announcing an Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) solution featuring new low-profile digital Slate(TM) cameras and an ALPR expansion board that fits Motorola MW810 Mobile Workstations, which saves space and helps eliminate additional hardware costs.

Motorola's newest public sector applications solution, PremierOne(TM), the next evolution in public safety and service solutions will also be on display, transforming the way agencies operate, collaborate and share information. Motorola is showcasing the first production use of PremierOne CAD and PremierOne Mobile public safety applications by the city of Ventura, Calif. Police Department. As a long-standing partner to the public sector, Motorola designed PremierOne to help agencies respond to citizens through operationally intuitive applications with a common platform to access centralized information and tools.

Speakers and social media keep visitors connected during and after APCO

Motorola's expertise and thought leadership in wireless and broadband communications for public safety will be on display at APCO with a lineup of speakers, panelists and social media activities throughout the show.
