House Health Care Bill Will Tax Wealthy (ANPI, BSX, MDT, STJ)

The U.S. government will tax its citizens that earn more than $500.000 annually and couples that earn more than 1 million annually with 5.4% rate if house health care bill receives Senate's approval. It should collect $460.5 billion from 0.3% of U.S. households.

The House health care bill will also limit tax benefits for foreign companies incorporated in offshore tax havens that avoid U.S. taxes. Additionally, large U.S. employers that don't provide health insurance to their employees will have to pay 8% of wages.

Medical devices manufacturers will be taxed 2.5% for devices they sell, except those sold to general public. Medical equipment makers were mostly up today, Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (USA) (NASDAQ: ANPI) gained 6.30% and Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE: BSX) added 2.59%. Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) closed 0.67% up, while St. Jude Medical (NYSE: STJ) lost 0.29%.
