The earthquake in Haiti has presented corporate America with an opportunity to snag some major contracts. The ebuilding of Haiti requires logistics, security, and construction expertise.

To discuss these issues, private sector firms dealing in disaster relief operations are meeting in Miami. The Miami conference has been organized by the International Peace Operations Association.

According to IPOA president Doug Brooks, the Haitian quake has caused $13 billion -$14 billion worth of damage. Business leaders have agreed that the reconstruction of Haiti is not possible without private sector participation.

Doug Brooks said, “When the policies come down and the money starts flowing for the reconstruction, we'll be ready to go."
