Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) weighed in as the ex-Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, is reportedly facing allegations of misconduct from a former White House assistant, Cassidy Hutchinson.
What Happened: Raskin, during an MSNBC interview, expressed his opinion on Hutchinson’s credibility, stating, “I mean, does that surprise anyone and does anyone doubt that story for one moment? She was about the most believable, credible witness I’ve ever seen in my life."
Hutchinson, who previously worked as an aide in the White House, has alleged that Giuliani engaged in inappropriate behavior towards her on Jan. 6, 2021.
Raskin didn’t mince words when it came to Giuliani, stating, "Rudy Giuliani is obviously full of it and completely undependable and unfaithful as a witness.”
“Look, if America had believed the women who came forward about Donald Trump‘s sexual harassment and if we had followed what we had heard with our own ears in the Access Hollywood tape, we never would have gotten into this situation. Usually, sexual assault and tolerance for misogyny and sexual harassment go hand-in-hand with authoritarianism. It does not surprise me for a moment that on the most sinister of all days, January 6, Rudy Giuliani decided that that was the moment that he was going to grope Cassidy Hutchinson,” he added.
Why It Matters: The alleged incident took place in the vicinity of a rally stage near the White House, shortly before Trump urged a crowd of his supporters to proceed to the U.S. Capitol to demonstrate against the confirmation of President Joe Biden‘s Electoral College victory.
Giuliani’s spokesperson dismissed Hutchinson’s assertion as a “disgusting lie” and insinuated that she had concocted the accusation against the former New York City mayor to enhance the sales of her book.

Hutchinson gained national attention last year when she provided compelling testimony to the House Select Committee, which was investigating the events related to the pro-Trump riot at the Capitol that occurred following Trump’s speech on Jan. 6.
In her new book, she recounts her transition from being a supporter of Trump and a White House staffer to becoming a prominent witness in a congressional investigation that proposed criminal charges against the former president.
