First-Ever Research Explores U.S. Hispanic Community's Attitudes On Cannabis

The National Hispanic Cannabis Council (NHCC), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Hispanics in the cannabis industry, has teamed up with Q & A Research Inc. to unveil the 2023 U.S. Hispanic Cannabis Awareness and Perception Study.

The study offers unprecedented insights into the U.S. Hispanic community's understanding of cannabis.

“U.S. Hispanics are supporting cannabis reform in record numbers. While stigma remains, this breakthrough study demonstrates record support among this important—and growing—population of Americans,” stated Brian Vicente attorney and NHCC president in a press release procured by Benzinga.

Key Findings

Among the key findings, it was revealed that 40% of the surveyed acculturated or bicultural Hispanics, aged 21 and older, use cannabis at least once a month, potentially equating to 2.5 million adults spending around $2.5 billion annually on cannabis.

What's notable is their strong support for Latino-owned cannabis businesses, surpassing findings in other studies.

Social Stigma

NHCC aims to educate the Hispanic community on the health benefits of cannabis. However, the research also underscored the persistence of a stigma/taboo surrounding cannabis within the community.

The study focused on four pillars: attitudes toward cannabis, cultural taboos, cannabis usage, and buying power, and attitudes toward legalization.

Vicente emphasized the growing support for cannabis reform among U.S. Hispanics, despite enduring stigma.

In-Depth Overview: Upcoming Livestream Event

For those eager to delve deeper into these findings, NHCC and Q & A Research will host a livestream on September 21, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

This event will provide an in-depth overview of the 2023 U.S. Hispanic Cannabis Awareness and Perception Study and include a Q & A session with viewers.
