Right-wing Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) is known for her advocacy for gun rights and for being a supporter of former President Donald Trump.

Boebert found herself in trouble at a recent musical performance of “Beetlejuice.”

What Happened: Released in 1988, “Beetlejuice” has become a cult classic and memorable film for many. A sequel from director Tim Burton was nearly finished filming prior to the Hollywood strike and Johnny Depp was rumored to have a role in the film.

A musical version of the film is currently being performed at Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado, from Sept. 5 to Sept. 17. The musical is part of a touring Broadway show version of the film.

Among the people who attended the musical performance in Denver was Boebert.

The congresswoman attended a Sunday night performance and was removed after being accused of vaping, singing, recording and “causing a disturbance” during the live musical performance, according to a report from The Denver Post

An incident report viewed by The Denver Post said two people were asked to leave during the performance, without naming the people in question. The report said both people were issued a warning for behavior during the intermission.

Boebert was said to be loud and disruptive and taking pictures and recording, which is not allowed during the show.

“They told me they would not leave. I told them that they need to leave the theater and if they do not, they will be trespassing. The patrons said they would not leave. I told them I would [be] going to get Denver Police. They said go get them,” an usher was quoted in the incident report.

The report also said the two people escorted out were heard saying “Do you know who I am” and “I will be contacting the mayor.”

Why It’s Important: A campaign manager for Boebert told The Post the congresswoman was not vaping during the show, but admitted that she used a cellphone to take a picture, unaware of the no photography rules.

“I can confirm the stunning and salacious rumors: in her personal time, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is indeed a supporter of the performing arts (gasp!) and, to the dismay of a select few, enthusiastically enjoyed a weekend performance of ‘Beetlejuice,’” Campaign Manager Drew Sexton told The Post in a statement.

Security footage was released that showed Boebert being escorted out of the theater.

Boebert took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share about the performance and missing the ending, with a link to buy tickets.

“I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud! Everyone should go see it if you get the chance this week and please let me know how it ends!” Boebert said.

Boebert has been known to get attention for questionable conduct during Congress meetings and hearings, where she has been witnessed for interrupting speakers and shouting out things from the audience.

The congresswoman won the 2020 and 2022 elections to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the state of Colorado. Boebert is running for a third term in the 2024 election.
