In a recent social media exchange, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was seen mocking House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.).

What Happened: Musk responded with a laughing emoji to a post by a user named Defiant L’s on X. The post highlighted two conflicting posts from Jeffries.

In the first post from July 9, 2020, Jeffries praised a Supreme Court ruling that denied former President Donald Trump absolute immunity from Congressional subpoenas. In contrast, a post from Feb. 8, 2022, saw Jeffries criticizing the Supreme Court, alleging its majority had “zero legitimacy.”

Why It Matters: The Supreme Court is expected to rule on Trump’s presidential immunity in the coming weeks, a decision that could have far-reaching implications for both sitting and former presidents.

Trump is facing charges under the Espionage Act for the willful retention of national defense information and obstruction of justice for attempting to conceal the records from authorities after they demanded their return. Despite the allegations, he continues to assert his innocence, describing the cases as a “witch hunt.”

The former president is reportedly leading in all seven swing states in the potential 2024 election race against Biden. His comments on prosecuting Biden could be seen as a strategic move in this political context.
