Step Aside Ford, GM: New EV Pickup From Stellantis Can Go Up To 500 Miles On A Single Charge

Stellantis NV STLA has unveiled its new electric Ram pickup truck, the 2025 Ram 1500 REV, at the New York International Auto Show.

What Happened: This is the first battery-electric light-duty pickup truck from Ram Truck, a standalone division of Stellantis.

Ram brand CEO Mike Koval Jr. said, “Our all-new Ram 1500 REV pushes past the competition in areas customers care about most including range, towing, payload and charge time.”

Long, long range?  The pickup truck is available in two options: a standard 168-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a targeted range of up to 350 miles, and an optional 229-kilowatt-hour large battery pack with a targeted range of up to 500 miles.

This 500-mile range is higher than other all-electric pickups including General Motors Co‘s GM Hummer EVFord Motor Co's F F-150 Lightning, and Rivian Automotive Inc‘s RIVN R1TCNBC noted.

Why It Matters: The pickup truck comes with bi-directional charging, meaning it can charge another Stellantis BEV, provide power back to the grid, or power a home during a storm. It is also capable of towing up to 14,000 lbs and a payload of up to 2,700 lbs.

However, the company has not announced pricing for the vehicle, which is expected to debut in late 2024.

This new reveal is part of Stellantis’ strategic plan to invest over €30 billion through 2025 in electrification and software to deliver BEVs.

The company will now follow up with the new Ram 1500 REV XR, which has a “class-shattering range,” according to Stellantis.
