Kyle Bass is known for running Hayman Capital Management, a hedge fund he founded in 2005. Bass is also not afraid of sharing his political opinions on X, formerly known as Twitter, to his hundreds of thousands of followers.

Bass tweeted that he believes Republicans are committing “political suicide” by continuing to go after abortion rights ahead of the 2024 presidential election. In June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade, potentially jeopardizing access to abortions for millions of American women.

Most experts agree this decision caused Republican candidates to underperform expectations in the 2022 midterm elections. More than 60% of Americans support the right to an abortion, according to Pew Research.

“Republicans are committing political suicide after seeing the ‘Red Wave’ turn into a ‘Red Ripple’ post Roe v. Wade,” Bass said in his post. “15 weeks takes the issue of the table… but firebrands are doubling down. You want to lose women voters in 2024? Keep up the stupidity.”

Bass responded below the tweet, saying the abortion issue is an "election loser" and it should be off the table.

Ohio voters passed a constitutional amendment that secures abortion rights for its citizens on Tuesday, becoming the seventh state to pass amendments protecting abortion rights following the Supreme Court’s decision last year.

In Kansas, a predominantly red state that voted for former President Donald Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections, voters also passed an amendment to protect abortion rights, just a few months after the Supreme Court’s decision.

This shows that even in majority ‘red states,’ supporting abortion rights appears to be a fairly popular political position.
