Elon Musk Vs. Mark Zuckerberg: Jim Cramer Says One Billionaire Will 'Crush' The Other

Zinger Key Points
  • Jim Cramer sided with Threads over X last month. Now he's picking sides again in the potential cage match between the two billionaires.
  • "He'll crush him. It's not even a fair fight." Cramer says.

The saga between Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk and Meta Platforms Inc META CEO Mark Zuckerberg continues, with the most recent chapter in the potential cage match story unfolding over the weekend. Jim Cramer says if it actually happens, one billionaire will "crush" the other

What To Know: The beef between the two billionaires is a social media rivalry. When news hit that Meta was building a Twitter-like platform, an executive was quoted saying there was demand for a Twitter alternative that was "sanely run," and that ruffled Musk's Twitter (X) feathers.

"I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options. At least it will be 'sane'. Was worried there for a moment," Musk said in a tweet response.

When one Twitter user warned that Zuckerberg had legitimate jiu-jitsu skills, Musk responded, saying he would fight the Meta CEO in a cage. Later that day, Zuckerberg said he would be up for an MMA-style fight against Musk.

Since then there has been a lot of back and forth. Over the weekend, Musk took to X to note that he has been lifting weights throughout the day, "preparing for the fight."

Zuckerberg responded on Threads and said he is "ready today." The Meta CEO also noted that he suggested Aug. 26 as the date of the fight, but Musk had not confirmed it.

"Not holding my breath," Zuckerberg said.

On Sunday night, Musk said he "may require surgery before the fight can happen," adding that he's getting an MRI on his neck and upper back this week.

Why It Matters: Cramer believes the potential fight wouldn't really be much of a match at all. He's not even giving Musk a chance.

"Zuckerberg will crush him," Cramer said Monday on CNBC's "Squawk On The Street."

"He'll crush him. It's not even a fair fight."

Cramer previously sided with the Meta CEO on the social media competition between Threads and X.

"I say game, set, match, Zuckerberg," he said last month on CNBC.

There's a good chance Cramer was wrong about that, at least in the early stages. Despite Threads becoming the fastest-growing online platform in history, its popularity seems to have waned since its launch.

The potential cage match between the billionaires is still being discussed, according to UFC president Dana White. Several sportsbooks have even placed betting odds on the match.

Like Cramer, oddsmakers are giving the edge to Zuckerberg. DraftKings Inc DKNG projects the Meta CEO would be a -160 betting favorite and Musk would be the underdog at +140.
