(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PEP#NASDAQ">PEP</a>), two major government contractors, are revising their diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies in light of President <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump's executive order</a>.
This order requires federal contractors to adhere to the prohibition of DEI programs, becoming a key consideration for businesses working within government-funded environments.
Coca-Cola is expected to adhere to the administration&#8217;s mandate, which will affect its beverage services on military bases and other government properties, reported <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-02-13/coca-cola-pepsico-planning-to-comply-with-trump-s-dei-policy?srnd=phx-industries-consumer&amp;sref=TBDibEcD">Bloomberg</a>.
The move comes after Trump ordered federal agencies to dismantle DEI programs and urged private companies to end what he labeled as <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/news/25/01/43214683/target-ends-dei-program-following-trumps-call-to-eliminate-illegal-preferences-expert-calls-it-brand-suicide-for-retail-giant-with-diverse-customer-base">"illegal DEI discrimination and preferences."</a>

Some of the other prominent corporations that have taken similar decision regarding DEI include, Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), Walmart Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WMT#NYSE">WMT</a>), and Target Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TGT#NYSE">TGT</a>).
Going a step further, Google parent Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) has taken down a statement from its SEC filings <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/media/25/02/43517468/google-joins-meta-amazon-in-winding-up-dei-hiring-memo-reveals-details">regarding its obligation to DEI</a>.
Meanwhile, retail giant Costco Wholesale Corp.(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COST#NASDAQ">COST</a>) bucked the trend as the company&#8217;s shareholders reaffirmed their backing for its current DEI initiatives with unanimous support.
Coca-Cola reported fourth-quarter sales growth of 6% year-on-year to $11.5 billion and an adjusted EPS of $0.55, both <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/02/43623639/coca-cola-pops-in-q4-revenue-soars-6-ceo-hails-all-weather-strategy">above the consensus estimates</a>.
The revenue increase included a 5% climb in concentrate sales and a 9% growth in price/mix.
PepsiCo on the other hand, reported worse-than-expected fourth-quarter revenue of $27.78 billion. Adjusted EPS of &nbsp;$1.96, beat the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43460249/pepsicos-q4-sales-miss-estimates-on-downcast-performance-in-north-america-stock-dives">consensus estimate of $1.94</a>.
Price Action: KO and PEP shares traded higher by 0.45% and 0.46% at $69.83 and $145.27 respectively at last check Friday.

A wave of full-shopping boycotts has taken hold in parts of Europe, with consumers in the Balkans leading the charge against skyrocketing grocery prices. Now, a movement in the U.S. is adopting a similar strategy—but for an entirely different reason.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">European Consumers Push Back Against Rising Costs</h2>
Shoppers across the Balkans recently organized supermarket boycotts to protest soaring food prices and a worsening cost of living crisis. Under the leadership of the consumer rights organization Hello, Inspector, the campaign began in Croatia and swiftly expanded to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia.

The boycott had an immediate impact. In Croatia alone, supermarket transactions dropped by 44%, and total sales plunged by 53%, according to tax authorities. In response, the Croatian government increased the number of price-capped essentials from 30 to 70. In an attempt to regain customers, grocery chains such as Kaufland and Konzum announced price reductions and frozen prices on a few products.
Even Montenegro's prime minister expressed support for the movement, stating that &#8220;as a citizen, I support such action.&#8221;

In the end, Shaq's cart was packed with $70,000 worth of items, making it the &#8220;biggest purchase in Walmart history.&#8221;

But when it came time to pay, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/24/09/40817545/i-know-im-not-broke-shaquille-oneals-card-was-declined-at-walmart-after-attempting-the-biggest-p">Shaq's credit card was declined</a>—not once, but twice. This left the basketball star a bit puzzled, thinking, "I know I'm not broke!" Eventually, he received a call from American Express security, who suspected fraud due to the massive Walmart charge. But when Shaq heard about his plan, the NBA legend had some advice for him. Apparently, Shaq had already tried to pull off a similar &#8220;stunt&#8221; years ago. He recalled an experience after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when he tried to buy everything in a Walmart in Baton Route, Louisiana. Despite being a superstar, the store turned him down. The reason? Walmart simply wouldn't let him do it without giving him a reason. Shaq said, "They won't let you do that."
&#8220;I&#8217;m working with them to potentially find a Walmart that&#8217;s about to shut down. We&#8217;re trying to figure it out. I think I might be able to pull it off this year that I think would be crazy,&#8221; Donaldson said excitedly. He continued, &#8220;Imagine I just walk into Walmart, I pull up with 30 18 wheelers and we buy everything on the shelves. While it might seem odd that Walmart wouldn't allow Shaq to make such a big purchase, there are some logistical reasons behind it. First of all, if someone were to buy everything in the store, it could create massive disruptions, especially with restocking. As Donaldson pointed out, there's a concern of customers not being able to buy what they need.&nbsp;
While it seems like MrBeast is set on breaking Shaq's Walmart record, Shaq's experience shows that it's not as easy as it sounds.

Walmart Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WMT#NYSE">WMT</a>) is now the owner of a shopping mall and the move will likely be closely followed by the real estate sector.
 What Happened: For what is believed to be the first time in company history, Walmart is the owner of a shopping mall. The <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/11/42247997/walmart-shoppers-shun-electronics-for-black-friday-deals-on-eggs-bread-slippers">world's largest retailer </a>paid $34 million to acquire the Monroeville Mall, located near Pittsburgh.
Walmart purchased the mall from CBL &amp; Associates (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CBL#NYSE">CBL</a>) recently and partnered with Cypress Equities to redevelop the property. Cypress has been used by Walmart previously to help with site selection on new retail locations.
"Walmart did purchase the Monroeville Mall and is very interested in being part of any future redevelopment of this site," Walmart said in a statement, as <a href="https://www.retaildive.com/news/walmart-buys-pittsburgh-area-mall/739277/">reported </a>by Retail Dive. "Walmart is working with Cypress on mall operations and potential redevelopment of the site."
The retailer is staying quiet on what the redevelopment plans look like for the 1.2 million square foot mall. The mall occupies 186 acres and sits near several major highways.
The Monroeville Mall, which was built in 1969, was last renovated in 2003. CBL bought the mall for $231.2 million in 2004.
Covering two stories, the mall has over 130 stores, which currently include Macy's, JCPenney, Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Barnes &amp; Noble and a Cinemark movie theater.
CBL, who listed the property for sale in December, said the mall gets over 3.5 million annual visits. &nbsp;

Why It's Important: With Walmart or Cypress not providing details on what will happen to the mall, a lot could change in the coming months.
The biggest question mark is why Walmart bought the mall, which leads into the second biggest question of will Walmart add its own store or a Sam's Club to the tenants that make up Monroeville Mall.
The report said Walmart does not have a store in Monroeville and has eyed the location before. With the mall having prominent real estate by major highways, a Walmart as a mall anchor could make a lot of sense and help justify the purchase price.
Based on what happens with this mall redevelopment it will also be interesting to see if Walmart keeps ownership of the property and becomes landlord to the other retailers and if the company would utilize this model at other shopping malls across the country.
WMT Price Action: Walmart stock closed 1.68% up at $102.46 on Wednesday versus a 52-week trading range of $55.85 to $102.58. Walmart stock hit the new 52-week highs during Wednesday's intraday session and the stock is now up 82% over the last year.
