Ron DeSantis Administration Approves Climate Denial Videos For Classroom Use In Florida

Florida’s Department of Education has greenlit classroom use of videos denying the science behind climate change.

According to Politico, the videos are produced by the Prager University Foundation, a conservative group known for distorting scientific facts. This is the first time a state has allowed the use of PragerU materials in public schools.

The development follows the recent announcements by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis government about new curriculum standards that highlight the “personal benefits” gained from a lifetime of forced labor.

Marissa Streit, CEO of PragerU, argues that the videos provide a necessary balance to schools that have been “hijacked by the left.”

"Young kids are being taught climate hysteria. They're hearing that the world is coming to an end, and we think that there needs to be a healthy balance,” Streit adds.

The videos have been approved for use in civics and government classes, causing concern among researchers who fear the spread to classrooms in other states. They argue that the videos present extreme ideas as common beliefs to impressionable children aged 5 to 11.

Florida Department of Education spokesperson Cassie Palelis, however, maintains that the PragerU material aligns with Florida’s revised civics and government standards.
