Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) also moved higher, trading above the key $1,900 mark this morning.
U.S. initial jobless claims declined by 9,000 from the earlier week to 228,000 in the week ending July 15, versus market expectations of 242,000.
Stellar (CRYPTO: XLM) was the top gainer over the prior 24 hours, while Rocket Pool (CRYPTO: RPL) turned out to be the biggest loser.
At the time of writing, the global crypto market cap rose to $1.22 trillion, recording a 24-hour gain of 1.2%. BTC was trading higher by 1.3% at $30,386 while ETH rose by around 0.9% to $1,925 on Thursday.
