The Los Angeles Dodgers won its eighth World Series title in 2024 with a comeback victory over the New York Yankees in Game 5. While the win could be great for Dodgers fans because it is the team's second title in four years, it could also help predict the 2024 presidential election.

What Happened: The Dodgers and Yankees — the two most valuable teams in key television markets — having faced off in the 2024 World Series could help the quarterly financial results of Fox Corp (NASDAQ:FOX)(NASDAQ:FOXA). The World Series saw strong viewership thanks to the matchup and strong interest from Japanese fans thanks to Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, who is from the country.

Similar to the Dodgers winning two championships in the past four years, the National Football League's (NFL) Kansas City Chiefs have had success in recent years. The NFL team has Super Bowl wins in 2020, 2023 and 2024.

The Chiefs’ Super Bowl win in 2020 was its first Super Bowl championship in 50 years and kicked off a run that has the team considered one of the most recent NFL dynasties with three Super Bowl wins in four years.

In 2020, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, the Dodgers won the World Series and Donald Trump lost the presidential election. In 2024, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, the Dodgers won the World Series and Trump is running for president again, with the outcome to be determined.

Sammarco's post went viral on X with over two million views as the outcomes of the sports championships could be a precursor to the 2024 election and good news for the Democratic Party and Kamala Harris.

With 30 Major League Baseball (MLB) teams and 32 NFL teams, each season there is a 1/30 chance of a team winning the World Series and a 1/32 chance of a team winning the Super Bowl. Add the two outcomes together and there is a 1/960 chance of a specific MLB team and a specific NFL team each winning titles in the same year.

Of course in the case of the Chiefs and Dodgers, the teams have been good in recent years and among the favorites to win championships.

Tuesday's presidential election will determine whether the sports championships helped predict the winner or if the stat will go down only in sports history for the same two teams winning four years later.

What's Next: Trump is currently the betting favorite to win the 2024 presidential election, with odds of -182 at BetMGM UK, which is a unit of a joint venture owned by MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) and Entain. Harris is the underdog at odds of +150. Trump has a 61.74% implied chance of winning the election based on the odds, with Harris having a 38.26% chance, according to data from Action Network.

While there won't be a presidential election in 2025, the Dodgers and Chiefs could share in a championship stat again.

The Dodgers, fresh off their 2024 World Series title, are currently the favorites to win the 2025 World Series with odds of +400 at sportsbook DraftKings Inc (NASDAQ:DKNG), ranking ahead of the Yankees at +700.

The Chiefs, the only unbeaten team in the NFL for the 2024 season with a 7-0 record, are the favorites to win Super Bowl LIX in 2025. The Chiefs have odds of +400, edging out the Detroit Lions who are the next highest with odds of +600.

A Super Bowl win by the Chiefs in 2025 would make the team the first in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
