Comedian Jon Stewart has returned to hosting duties of "The Daily Show," a weeknight show that covers top political stories with a big focus on the 2024 election.
On a recent episode, Stewart poked fun at former President Donald Trump for his wording of the immigration crisis.
What Happened: One of the issues seeing increases focus from voters and presidential candidates is immigration with a crisis at the southern border of the U.S.
Trump has gone on the offensive and attacked current President Joe Biden for his immigration policies.
"I call it migrant crime. I really call it Biden migrant crime, but it's too long, so let's just call it migrant crime and everyone's gonna know its' because of Biden," Trump said during a recent interview, which Stewart shared.
Stewart shared that Trump later had a change of heart and changed the phrasing of "migrant crime" to "Bi-grant crime," as shared by Deadline.
"We will call it from now on Biden migrant crime, OK? It's Bi-grant crime. We'll call it Bi-grant. Let's call it Bi-grant Biden crime."
Stewart joked at the new phrasing and said it sounds "like a migrant who is open to crossing either border."
The host and comedian also poked fun at Trump's comments from a November 2023 rally where he said the people "coming into our country right now" were like Hannibal Lecter, referencing the fictional serial killer and cannibal who ate his victims.
"Wouldn't cannibals amongst them be the solution to the problem? Or are they fasting until they get to America? Well it's clear hyperbolic," Stewart said.
“The Daily Show” airs weeknights on Comedy Central, which is a unit of Paramount Global PARAPARAA.

Why It's Important: Trump appeared to double down on his comparisons of migrants and Hannibal Lecter in a speech this week, as shared by NBC News.
"They're rough people, in many cases from jails, prisons, from mental institutions, insane asylums," Trump said of migrants. "You know, insane asylums, that's ‘Silence of the Lambs' stuff."
Biden has vowed to shut down the border between the U.S. and Mexico if Congress approves a bipartisan bill, which is currently stalled in Congress.
A recent Morning Consult poll showed that 57% of voters think there is a "crisis of illegal immigration across the U.S-Mexico border."
This marked the highest percent of voters who answered yes during the presidencies of both Biden and Trump. The poll also found more voters put the blame for the immigration crisis on Biden. The current president saw 49% of voters say he was "very responsible" for the crisis, while 24% said Trump was "very responsible."
A recent poll of voters in seven key 2024 election swing states found immigration as the number two voter concern at 13%, trailing only the economy (36%).
