In a recent GQ video series in which Natalie Portman responded to fan questions, the renowned actress expressed her openness to returning to Walt Disney Co.'s DIS Star Wars franchise, despite her last appearance in 2005.
Portman came across a Reddit post from a Star Wars fan speculating about her reprising her role as Padmé in a future project.
"I have no information on this. No one's ever asked me to return, but I'm open to it," Portman revealed during the video segment.
Portman's prospective reprisal of her role as Padmé in the Star Wars franchise would be reminiscent of her co-stars Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor, who brought Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi back to the screen in Disney+'s series "Obi-Wan Kenobi."
During the GQ video, Portman recounted an amusing anecdote about her "Thor: Love and Thunder" director, Taika Waititi. Apparently, Waititi once forgot that Portman had starred in Star Wars altogether.
"He says he did 'cause he asked me if I wanted to be in a Star Wars movie, and I was like, 'I was,'" Portman recalled, prompted by another Reddit post. "I thought he was joking — he's such a joker that I thought it was a joke. And then afterward, he said in some interview that he was like cringing afterward."
