Max Sound Files Lawsuit vs Google; Aims to Ban Use of VP8 or H.264 Video Codecs,; Ban Sale of Nexus Phones, Chromecast Sticks -Reuters

Early December Max Sound Corporation (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/maxd#OTC">MAXD</a>) filed a lawsuit with the District Court of Mannheim, Germany, against Google Inc. (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/googl#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>), Mountain View, USA, Google Commerce Ltd., Dublin, Ireland, Google Germany GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, and the Google subsidiary YouTube LLC, San Bruno, USA, over allegations of the infringement of a video streaming patent, which is valid for the world's most important markets.

The publicly traded U.S. based technology company, Max Sound Corp, is inventor of the MAX-­‐D HD Audio Standard, and is holder of a worldwide license of the patent EU 2 026 277, which allows for economically efficient transport of digital content due to greatly optimized data capacity. The patent was founded by VSL Communications, a subsidiary of Vedanti Systems Ltd.

Max Sound Corp. claims that all products on the market that use the format H.264 for video compression infringe the asserted patent. This allegation comprises, in particular, current versions of the Google operating system Android, which is installed on many mobile phones and tablet devices. The complaint addresses the current Google Products: Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 Chromebook and Chromecast.
