Former senator-turned-food historian and podcast host, Capri Cafaro, launches her popular series that focuses on sharing the rich, yet often overlooked, culinary depth of the American Midwest

HUBBARD, Ohio, July 25, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Beginning Sunday, July 24, returning fans and new listeners of the popular podcast, Eat Your Heartland Out - a series that highlights the intersection of food and culture in the American midwest - will now be able to listen to new episodes weekly on Sundays on SiriusXM's Rural Radio (Channel 147) at 7 p.m. EST.

Eat Your Heartland Out, produced by Heritage Radio Network and hosted by former Ohio senator, Capri Cafaro, launched in June of 2020 to emphasize the rich and often overlooked culinary depth of the midwest region of the U.S., spanning 12 states. Each episode weaves the cultural diversity, immigration history, migration patterns, and agricultural variation of the region through compelling interviews and storytelling with historians, authors, chefs, and makers.

From discussing the growing trend of 'pay-what-you-can' cafes in the Midwest to learning about the history behind agricultural fairs and even interviewing refugee chefs who now call America home and are bringing community together through food, each episode of Eat Your Heartland Out offers the listeners to take a chronical audio tour through the Midwestern foodways that influence so much of how we eat across the country.

"It has been a lifelong passion of mine to share the untold stories behind Midwestern culinary history and the communities that have helped to shape our American heritage," said Capri Cafaro. "I am thrilled to reach new Rural Radio listeners who also share the same passion for learning our country's elaborate food culture and the deep diversity that unifies us all."

Eat Your Heartland Out aims to leave listeners with new insights and perspectives after each episode. The new partnership with Sirius XM channel 147 Rural Radio allows Cafaro to expand the podcast to a national radio network that focuses on rural lifestyle. About Capri Cafaro
Capri S. Cafaro is a Midwestern girl at heart. A native of Ohio, she served in state government for a decade where she focused her work on health care and the needs of the vulnerable.

When she was not working on legislation in the statehouse, she was baking pies for family and friends in her own house. After term limits brought her time in the Ohio Senate to a close, Capri now teaches public policy at the university level and is a frequent political commentator on cable news outlets.

With politics in the rearview, Capri also has more time to spend on her culinary passions. Capri believes food is the common denominator that brings us all together and the ingredient that can tell our nation's story without words.

Capri is the author of the new cookbook, United We Eat: 50 Great American Dishes to Bring Us Together (Story Farm Press) which was recently praised by the Evening Standard; "If there was ever a cookbook that highlighted the power and importance of food, it would be this one." She has also written about food, culture and travel for outlets such as FoodNetwork.com, Taste of Home, FoxNews.com and is a current contributor to Great Lakes Now and Inside Appalachia radio produced by West Virginia Public Media. Capri often brings her baking skills to TV audiences across the country as well as teaches regular culinary experiences with Tastemade.
