US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting housing data. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 39 points to 12,401.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index rose 5.20 points to 1,320.40. Nasdaq 100 futures surged 6.25 points to 2,321.75.
US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones industrial average dropping 1.05% to 12,381.26, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declining 1.19% to 1,317.37 and the NASDAQ composite index dipping 1.58% to 2,758.90.
Data on US new home sales for April will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
TiVo Inc (NASDAQ:
TIVO) is projected to report a Q1 loss at $0.31 per share on revenue of $41.98 million. AutoZone Inc (NYSE:
AZO) is projected to report its FQ3 EPS at $4.99 on revenue of $1.92 billion. Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:
TTWO) is expected to report a FQ4 loss at $0.41 per share on revenue of $145.72 million.
Medtronic Inc (NYSE:
MDT) is projected to post its FQ4 earnings at $0.93 per share on revenue of $4.29 billion. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc (NASDAQ:
CBRL) is expected to post its FQ3 EPS at $0.66 on revenue of $594.45 million.
Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:
AMAT) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.37 per share on revenue of $2.77 billion. DSW Inc (NYSE:
DSW) is expected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.75 per share on revenue of $486.54 million.
GT Solar International Inc (NASDAQ:
SOLR) reported an increase in its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings and lifted its forecast. GT Solar reported its FQ4 profit at $51.9 million, or $0.41 per share, up from $33.3 million, or $0.23 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue climbed to $271.6 million from $194.7 million. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.34 per share on revenue of $223.2 million. GT Solar lifted its FY12 earnings outlook to a range of $1.55 to $1.85 per share, from its earlier range of $1.25 to $1.50 per share. Analysts expected FY12 earnings of $1.46 per share.
CNinsure Inc (NASDAQ:
CISG) reported a more than three-fold year-over-year surge in its first-quarter net income.
Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average gaining 0.17%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.31% and China's Shanghai Composite declining 0.28%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.09% and India's Sensex gained 0.13%.
European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has gained 0.36%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.55%.
Nymex oil futures gained $1.33 to trade at $99.03 a barrel in electronic trade.
Against the dollar, the euro gained 0.7% to trade at $1.4111. However, the greenback fell 0.1% to trade at ¥81.86 against the Japanese yen.
