It's 'The iPhone Moment For AI,' And Huang Says Nvidia Is Taking Control Of It

Zinger Key Points
  • CEO Jensen Huang believes generative AI will reinvent nearly every industry, calling it an "iPhone moment" for AI.
  • Nvidia partners with Microsoft, Google and Oracle to bring DGX AI supercomputers to every company through the cloud.

Nvidia Corporation's NVDA CEO Jensen Huang believes that we are at the "iPhone moment for AI" and the company is ready to spearhead the AI movement by providing the necessary infrastructure to companies innovating in the field.

What Happened: During Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference on Tuesday, the company announced partnerships with Microsoft Corp MSFT Azure, Alphabet GOOGGOOGL Google GCP and Oracle Corporation ORCL OCI to bring Nvidia DGX AI supercomputers to companies through the cloud.

DGX cloud is optimized to run Nvidia AI enterprise, the world's leading acceleration library suite for end-to-end development and deployment of AI. The partnership brings Nvidia's ecosystem to the CSPs, amplifying Nvidia's scale and reach.

Huang said he is excited about the speed, scale and reach of this cloud extension of Nvidia's business model, which will offer customers who want generative AI instant access to Nvidia and global-scale clouds. The breakthroughs in generative AI have profound implications and could pave the way for a new kind of computer that is programmed in human language.

The CEO highlighted the transformational impact of generative AI, calling it a computing platform that enables anyone to be a programmer. He said generative AI's ability to automate and co-create makes it set to reinvent nearly every industry.

He also announced the launch of Nvidia AI Foundations, a cloud service for building, refining and operating custom large language models and generative AI trained with proprietary data.

The service comprises language, visual and biology model-making services and video for building custom language text-to-text generative models — it provides a fast track to generative AI adoption, allowing businesses to codify knowledge into personalized AI models they can control.

On the Omniverse, Nvidia’s platform that allows for the creation of a physically accurate virtual twin that can be tested in true-to-life environments and conditions, Huang announced the launch of new workstations powered by Nvidia Ada RTX GPUs and Intel's newest CPUs, as well as new Nvidia OVX servers optimized for Omniverse.

The Omniverse cloud, a platform as a service, will provide instant and secure access to managed APIs, workflows and customizable applications running on Nvidia OVX, benefiting from Microsoft's storage, security and services portfolio.

Microsoft and Nvidia are bringing Omniverse to hundreds of millions of Microsoft 365 and Azure users, enabling developers to speed up and scale up to solve previously impossible problems, including achieving net-zero emissions.
