Is Elon Musk's X The Next TED Talks Venue? Chris Anderson Teases Possibilities After Posting An Experimental Video

Elon Musk's X, formerly Twitter, could be on the verge of scoring a win after some time. TED Talks, a popular speech platform allowing people to present their ideas, has asked users if they would like to see videos posted directly on the social media platform.

What Happened: Chris Anderson, the head of TED, has asked viewers if they want to watch videos directly on X instead of going to Alphabet Inc.'s GOOG GOOGL YouTube.

"I learned so much from this talk… especially the graph near the end. If you like this experiment of posting TED Talks directly on X, please share! We're curious how they'll be received here," Anderson said.

The responses so far seem positive, too, with users saying they would prefer to have these TED Talks posted directly on X since they are already on the app.

Musk sounded excited, too.

Musk's excitement should not come as a surprise, either – the billionaire owner of X has been trying to transform X into the "everything app".

Earlier in September, X updated the app to allow users to scroll to watch videos, taking a leaf out of ByteDance-owned TikTok and Meta Platforms Inc.'s META Instagram.

Musk has also been trying to convert X into the hub of videos in general – in October, he posted a livestream of him playing the popular role-playing game Diablo.

Why It Matters: X becoming another home of TED Talks could prove to be an essential win for the social media platform, especially in light of its recent struggles.

Following Musk's anti-Semitic post, Paris Hilton's media company pulled out of a two-year deal to post exclusive content and offer a live shopping experience.
