Obama-Era Adviser Says This Is Biden's 'Last Moment' To Exit 2024 Presidential Race: 'Time Is Fleeting Here'

David Axelrod, former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, suggested that Joe Biden should consider withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race.

Axelford responded to questions about his comments on Monday and stated on CNN that it is an opportune time for Biden to reassess his campaign, The Hill reported. He emphasized the concern over Biden’s age and questioned whether continuing the race was the right decision.

“Time is fleeting here, and this is probably the last moment for him to do that check,” Axelrod added.

This came after Axelrod previously voiced his concerns over Biden's re-election campaign on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday after a poll that showed Biden lagging behind former President Donald Trump in several key swing states.

This poll comes as a significant alert to Biden’s campaign, as he had won all six battleground states in the 2020 election against Trump. The only state where Biden was found leading Trump in this poll was Wisconsin.

Axelrod clarified that his remarks were not solely based on this one poll but also on conversations with people and the unique political landscape of 2024 with Trump leading the GOP primary race. He also highlighted the stark difference between Obama’s run for reelection and Biden’s situation, mainly due to Biden’s age and the challenge posed by Trump.

Biden, who has been under scrutiny over his age since his 2020 campaign, would be 86 at the end of a potential second term. Despite the criticism, the President and the White House maintain that voters should evaluate him based on his ability to perform the job.
