Your Mom And Friends Can Now Help You Swipe Left Or Right On Your Tinder Matches

Popular dating app Tinder has launched a new feature named Matchmaker. This innovative tool enables users’ friends and family to review and give their opinions about potential matches, adding a layer of scrutiny to the online dating experience.

What Happened: Tinder’s Matchmaker feature allows users to share their potential matches with up to 15 family members or friends for their insights and recommendations. This occurs within 24 hours, and the invited “matchmakers” can view profiles without creating a Tinder account, reported The Guardian.

Following the session, users on Match Group Inc.-owned MTCH Tinder can review the recommendations the matchmakers gave before deciding on the suitability of the potential matches.

The feature is available in various countries, including the UK, US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, and Vietnam, and the company is planning a global rollout gradually.

Tinder’s chief marketing officer, Melissa Hobley, stated that the Matchmaker feature was created in response to the frequent practice of users seeking friends’ opinions about their matches. She said, “Tinder Matchmaker brings your circle of trust into your dating journey and helps you see the possibilities you might be overlooking from the perspective of those closest to you.”

Why It Matters: This new feature allows users to involve up to 15 people in decision-making. These matchmakers can review profiles within 24 hours and give their input without needing to have a Tinder profile.

They cannot message anyone on the user’s behalf, but a profile will be flagged as a recommendation if a matchmaker likes it, leaving it up to the user to make the final decision.
