Apple iPhone 15 Display Burn-In Issues Are Now Fixed With iOS 17.1 Update - Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)

Apple Inc. AAPL has fixed a major iPhone 15 bug that caused display burn-in issues. The bug fix is rolling out as part of the iOS 17.1 update.

What Happened: Apple has started rolling out iOS 17.1 to fix two major issues that impacted usability, including the iPhone 15 display burn-in issue.

The other fix has to do with the keyboard responsiveness, according to the release notes of the iOS 17.1 update. The new update fixes the bug that made the iOS keyboard less responsive.

While the keyboard bug was not as widely reported, iPhone 15 users raised the alarm bells on social media, showing off their days' old phones with massive image retention issues. While display burn-in generally happens after years of use, especially with modern OLED displays, iPhone 15 Pro Max users reported this problem within days of getting their phone.

Now, the iOS 17.1 update has surprisingly fixed the problem. "I am happy to confirm that this is the case, after updating today the issue is entirely gone," a user posted on the subreddit r/iPhone.

Why It Matters: Previously, the same user had reported a major display burn-in issue on their iPhone 15 Pro Max, with multiple app icons showing up on the display.

"Not sure how this was a software issue but I am happy it has been fixed," the user added.

The display looks clean and has no images or graphics retained on the screen.

This is surprising since display burn-in is generally a hardware problem. Apple's customer support said at the time that this was due to a bug in the iOS 17.1 beta update but stopped short of saying whether the final update would fix it.

Now it turns out that the issue was software, so iPhone 15 Pro Max owners can now relax.
