WATCH: Tesla Cybertruck Tows Trailer — Did It Just Debunk Ford CEO's Notion Of Being Only A 'Cool High-End Product'?

Electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc‘s TSLA upcoming Cybertruck can seemingly tow, reaffirming faith in fans that it can indeed be a work truck.

What Happened: Several videos shared online on X (formerly Twitter) by the handle “omg_Tesla/Rivian” shows a Cybertruck towing a closed trailer.

“Can confirm, it tows!,” the user wrote while sharing several videos of the truck moving past. They also shared footage of the Cybertruck as captured on their Rivian drive cam.

The videos drew much fascination from Tesla fans as it reaffirmed their faith that the Cybertruck can indeed be a “work truck.” While some wondered about the constituents of the trailer, others posed questions on the vehicle’s range in miles with towing.

Why It Matters: The Cybertruck has been slammed in the past as a fancy product by many people, including Ford CEO Jim Farley. Farley previously dismissed the Cybertruck as “a cool high-end product parked in front of a hotel.” While the Cybertruck is for Silicon Valley people, Ford makes trucks for real people who do real work, Farley said. Ford has its version of an electric pickup truck in the F-150 Lightning, which is already in the market.

At Tesla‘s annual shareholder meeting in May, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the Cybertruck delivery event is scheduled for later this year. Recently, Musk said that the date of the event would be announced once Tesla is "ready.”
