Overview

While the iPhone 14 series may not have moved the needle much for many iPhone fans, Apple has lined up some major upgrades for the iPhone 15 series. If rumors come true, all four iPhone 15 models could offer something for everyone, making this holiday season a good one to upgrade your phone.

To make your life easier, we have collated everything we know about the iPhone 15 so far in one place.

iPhone 15: Everything We Know So Far

iPhone 15 Launch Date

The iPhone 15 launch date is widely expected to be September 12. Apple and US carriers are preparing for the launch, and a report suggests that US carriers have even asked their employees not to take leaves and be present for a "major smartphone launch".

While the date is not officially set in stone, all hints point to the iPhone 15 being launched on September 12. If this turns out to be true, iPhone 15 pre-orders could go live on September 18.

iPhone 15 Price

Apple is rumored to hike the iPhone 15 price this time around. More specifically, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could see a price hike in the range of $100 to $200.

Apple could compensate for this by doubling the storage across all four iPhone 15 models, but we suggest taking that rumor with a pinch of salt.

In addition to this, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could see 8GB of RAM after keeping it unchanged for three years.

iPhone 15 Expected Features

Action Button

Processor

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could be powered by the Apple A17 Bionic chipset, making them faster than the fastest Android phones this year and the next one. For instance, the A17 Bionic chipset has reportedly beaten the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset by a 47% margin.

On the other hand, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are likely to be powered by the A16 Bionic chipset.

Periscope Camera

The top-tier iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to receive a major camera upgrade this year – Apple is rumored to include a periscope camera in its flagship, significantly improving its zooming capabilities. Will the iPhone 15 Pro Max be the best camera phone of the year? Time will tell.

USB-C Port

One of the most significant changes this year will be the USB Type-C port, replacing the lightning port. Apple’s switch to the more universal port is in response to European Union regulation, making it easier to find a charger since most other smartphones sold over the last few years have the same port.

However, the standard iPhone 15 could support only USB 2.0 technology, while the Pro models could get USB 3.0 for faster data transfer speeds.

Battery

Titanium Design

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to borrow from the Apple Watch Ultra in terms of design – the frame that runs around the iPhone 15 Pro will now be made of titanium instead of steel. The titanium frame will have a brushed finish instead of the glossy finish that the iPhone 14 series has.

Color-matched USB-C Cable

Apart from this, Apple is also said to extend the USB-C cable length by up to 50%, making it 1.5 meters long.

Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) highly-anticipated iPhone 15 series launch is just a few weeks away. The rumor mill has been in overdrive in the run-up to the launch, with a massive inflow of everything from rumored iPhone 15 features to the price and more.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will likely borrow the Action Button from the Apple Watch Ultra. The Action Button could support up to nine actions. The latest iOS 17 Beta has given another hint about this feature: a new haptic feedback pattern for the Silent mode.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to be powered by up to 20% more dense batteries, helping them last longer than their predecessors. Apple is said to use stacked battery technology borrowed from electric vehicles. This will help Apple maintain the same size as the iPhone 14 models while increasing battery capacity by up to 20%.

Apple could finally move on from the white charging cable and launch color-matched braided USB-C cables with the iPhone 15, according to Apple prototype device collector "Kosutami".
