Polestar's Electric Odyssey: 150,000 Polestar 2 EVs Made, Upgraded Versions Rolling Out

Swedish electric car brand Polestar Automotive Holding UK PLC PSNY on Wednesday said that it has produced 150,000 Polestar 2 vehicles so far.

What Happened: The milestone comes three years after the car went into production in 2020. Currently, there are over 20,000 models of the car on the road in the UK.

As per data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Polestar sold 8,164 vehicles this year until the end of July. This is a nearly 170% jump from the same period last year. Last month alone, the brand sold 1,300 cars as opposed to 193 vehicles in July 2022.

The Upgraded Polestar 2: The EV brand has also started deliveries of its upgraded Polestar 2.

"The upgraded Polestar 2 is the best version to date. With improved software, better quality, longer range, and faster charging, it is the basis from which we continue to grow our business," CEO Thomas Ingenlath said in a statement.

The upgraded vehicle has new, more efficient motors. The power delivery has also benefitted from the change to rear-wheel drive for single-motor versions and a rear bias for the dual-motor version of the car.
