Tata Group-owned Air India is reportedly delving into potential collaborations with tech behemoth Apple Inc. AAPL.

What Happened: The airline’s CEO, Campbell Wilson, recently visited Apple’s main office in Palo Alto, California, Livemint reported.

“Dr Satya Ramaswamy and I, together with some of our colleagues, also spent time at Apple’s head office in Palo Alto to explore opportunities for even deeper collaboration,” Wilson reportedly said in an internal email to Air India employees.

Why It Matters: This collaboration between Air India and Apple may signify a broader strategy for both companies.

Apple’s recent endeavors in India, such as the record-breaking sales at its new retail stores and its plans to open three more flagship stores in the country, highlight the tech giant’s growing interest in the Indian market.

Furthermore, a Bank of America report suggests that by 2025, India might account for 18% of Apple’s global iPhone production.

On the other hand, Air India has been seeking to expand its fleet since going private, signing agreements to acquire 470 new planes from Boeing and Airbus last month.
