IBM Employee Answers CEO's Open Letter To Trump With An Open Letter Of Her Own

An open resignation letter from an International Business Machines Corp. IBM employee to company CEO Virginia "Ginni" Rometty is circulating on the web in response to Rometty's “optimistic” open letter to President-elect Donald Trump last week.

The letter comes from Elizabeth Wood, a senior content strategist at IBM, and displayed her frustration with Rometty. The disgruntled employee fired shots at the CEO's support of Trump and his rhetoric toward minorities.

“Your letter offered the backing of IBM’s global workforce in support of his agenda that preys on marginalized people and threatens my well-being as a woman, a Latina and a concerned citizen,” said Wood.

With Rometty belonging to a small group of female Fortune 500 CEOs, Wood suggested the CEO’s stance on the new presidential administration should fall in line with another high profile female CEO, Indra K. Nooyi of PepsiCo, Inc. PEP, who publicly condemned Trump. “Forget about the Pepsi brand. How dare we talk about women that way?” said Nooyi after the election.

Wood resigned from IBM with no back-up plan or job lined up, but did so because of her conviction regarding IBM’s support of Donald Trump.

“The company’s hurry to do this was a tacit endorsement of his position, and has signaled to me something very important about IBM’s values: a willingness to legitimize threats to our country for financial gain,” she added.
