The possibility of Hilary Clinton becoming elected is posing difficult questions about what the public should call Bill Clinton. U.S. presidents are generally referred to as "Mr. President" for life, but no former Commander in Chief has been in a situation like the one B. Clinton may be in come November.
A twitter poll from Vox overwhelmingly chose the title "First Gentleman" as the best title for B. Clinton.
In an interview last year, Clinton himself proposed he should be called "Adam," playing off of the "first man" theme, if Hillary gets elected. Other popular choices include:
- First Mate.
- First Dude.
- First Man.
- First Laddie.
- First Lad.
- Mr. President.
- First Bill.
- First Gent.
- (White) House Husband.
- Slick Willy.
- Man of the House.
- Bill.
- First Lady's Man.
- First Ladies' Man.
Playing off names has been a common theme, and the question of what to call both Clintons has been discussed in multiple forms across multiple media in various situations.
From B. Clinton asking President Barack Obama about the @POTUS Twitter handle...
...To humorous Jimmy Kimmel Live! speculations...
The possibilities are endless, as is the banter.
