Kanye West may have some competition in his 2020 presidential bid. Outspoken former baseball player Curt Schilling declared he would be running for president in the next four to eight years in a recent Facebook Inc FB post.
Schilling is no stranger to controversial social media outbursts. He was fired as an ESPN analyst earlier in the year for making anti-transgender remarks on social media.
Appearing on Glenn Beck's radio show in June, Schilling said he was "absolutely dying to think about running for office." Schilling also believed it was his conservative political values that was responsible for his departure from ESPN.
"The memo that went out to everybody, which is: If you are a sport person, stick to sports, don't get involved in the political arena," said Schilling about ESPN. "In the end, for me it felt like that rule applied to me and me alone because I was conservative."
