Get Ready For The First Ever Hour-Long Simpsons Episode

Twenty-First Century Fox Inc FOXA FOX is continuously looking for ways to keep its hit, flagship animation series “The Simpsons” alive. For the upcoming 28th season set to air next year, the network announced it will broadcast its first ever one-hour episode, titled “The Great Phatsby.”

During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, management said the episode will air in January 2017, and feature guest appearances by Taraji P. Henson and Keegan-Michael Key.

The hip-hop parody of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s acclaimed novel “The Great Gatsby,” will allegedly bring a conned-to-bankruptcy Mr. Burns who, with the help of Homer, Bart, rapper Jazzy James and the wife of the mogul who ripped him off, seeks revenge.

Interestingly, producer Al Jean stated, “I just pray it won’t be the last thing people see before a Trump inauguration.” Keep in mind that the Simpsons support Hillary.

Executive producer Matt Selman added, “This was just going to be a regular episode, but the table read went so well, in a fit of passion and excitement and ambition and excess, we decided to supersize it… And we haven’t done a huge amount of stories in the world of hip-hop and rap culture, so we just went for it.”
