Fire At Livent Corporation's North Carolina Manufacturing Plant, No Injuries Reported

Livent Corporation LTHM said a fire broke out at the company's Bessemer City 800-acre manufacturing facility in North Carolina, early Monday morning.

The fire was restricted to one building, and no toxic chemicals or compounds were burned. Solid lithium metal ingots are produced in the building. 

The company reported no injuries in the mishap, adding that all onsite personnel are safe and have been evacuated.

The company said Livent's plant emergency response team is working to contain the fire and let it burn out.

"Apart from smoke, there is currently no immediate risk to the local community and no local evacuations have been ordered at this time, the company said. "The portion of Highway 161 which runs adjacent to the plant has been temporarily closed." 

Livent said it is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Price Action: LTHM shares are up 1.89% to $26.35 at the last check Monday.
