In a significant move, Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB) introduced the “SHIB Name Service” (SNS) on the Shibarium Layer-2. The innovative system seeks to simplify blockchain addresses and enhance digital identity.
This comes as the first part of the SHIBDentity system, reported DailyCoin. The service is designed to help users bypass complex blockchain addresses by providing easily readable on-chain addresses.
The SNS can be accessed via name.shib.io. To illustrate, a domain name like DailyCoin.SHIB could be procured for 20 Bone ShibaSwap (BONE), Shibarium Layer-2’s official gas fee token. Users can use various Web3 wallets, including Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and Rainbow, to acquire their domain.

Shiba Inu Ecosystem's SHIBDentity concept revolves around self-custodial authentication via Web3, decentralized verifiable credentials stored on-chain, W3C Standard Compliance, and a built-in trust system, among others.
Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, also highlighted a new peer-to-peer messaging system, enabling Shibarium L2 users to interact via encrypted messages.
According to Shiba Inu's Marketing Lead, Lucie, the blockchain-based decentralized identification system could drastically cut down spam bots, marking one of the major benefits of P2P communication in the SHIBDentity system. The Shibarium’s new digital identification system aims to empower users to “own and control their digital identities”.
