Ready, Set, Roll: Illinois Hosts First Cannabis-Integrated Concert

"We are getting almost a third, nearly 30% of the revenue that we get from the cannabis industry comes from people coming to Illinois and spending money at dispensaries," said Governor J.B. Pritzker recently. This is especially noteworthy, considering neighboring states like Michigan and Missouri have their own cannabis sales.

Pritzker will further elaborate on the state's approach as a keynote speaker at the upcoming Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Chicago on September 27-28.

And, in the spirit of the state's growing cannabis industry, Illinois is set to host its very first concert that integrates cannabis consumption.

‘The Miracle in Mundelein’: Music & Cannabis Festival

Dubbed "The Miracle in Mundelein," this two-day festival is scheduled for September 9-10, 2023. Located across the street from RISE Mundelein in Mundelein, IL, the event is championed by RYTHM Premium Cannabis, Sacred Rose, and Dayglo Presents, reported Grateful Web.

The festival promises to be more than just music; it's an intermingling of cannabis, music, and art - a fusion designed to foster camaraderie across different communities.

The lineup is as diverse as the community it aims to serve:

  • ‘Saturday, September 9’, will feature the legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill, underground rap and cannabis icon Action Bronson, the eight-time GRAMMY-winning reggae artist Stephen Marley, and local artist DJ Papa G.
  • Meanwhile, "Sunday, September 10," will showcase world-class jam acts such as Grateful Dead offshoot Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, funk-fusion group Lettuce, jam/experimental bassist Karina Rykman, and Chicago's own DJ Mitch Please.

But the music is just one aspect of what attendees can look forward to.

The Miracle’s Canna FAQ reveals that cannabis consumption will be allowed anywhere within the festival. Multiple Rolling Stations will be available across the grounds, equipped with couches for relaxation and high-top tables furnished with complimentary grinders, lighters, papers, and rolling trays. However, bongs or glass pieces are not on the provision list.

For those with a preference for dabs, Dab Bars will be on-site, offering electronic rigs for personal concentrate consumption. These rigs will be diligently cleaned between uses, ensuring maximum safety and hygiene.

An important guideline for festival-goers: while they can bring their own cannabis supplies, all cannabis must be bought from an Illinois dispensary and kept in its original packaging, which does not necessarily need to be sealed. There are specific regulations regarding the type of smoking devices attendees can bring in, and the RISE Mundelein dispensary is conveniently located just feet from the festival entrance, making it easy for attendees to stock up.

Beyond the cannabis experience, attendees can quench their thirst with alcoholic, hemp-derived, and non-alcoholic beverages. A wide range of food vendors will also be present to cater to diverse palates.

As Illinois rides the wave of cannabis revenue, the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Chicago mirrors the state's innovative and open approach to the burgeoning industry. Mark your calendar for September 27-28. All information is available on bzcannabis.com
