Asian Markets Mixed, Europeans In The Red; Gold Stays Above $2K, Crude Oil Remains Over $75 - Global Markets Today While US Was Sleeping

On Monday, November 27th, U.S. stock markets closed in the red as investors paused following Thanksgiving to focus on upcoming inflation data, consumer confidence, and spending.

In economic data, U.S. new home sales in October fell 5.6% to an annual rate of 679,000, below estimates of 723,000. This decline contributed to a cautious market mood.

In the S&P 500, healthcare and industrials saw the most significant drops, whereas real estate and consumer discretionary sectors had the most gains. 

Affirm Holdings surged 12% on Cyber Monday, benefiting from high usage of its "buy now, pay later" service.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.16% to 35,333.47, the S&P 500 declined 0.20% to 4,550.43, and the Nasdaq Composite slid 0.07%, ending the session at 14,241.02.

Asian Markets Today

Japan's Nikkei 225 ended Tuesday's session lower by 0.11% at 33,408.39, led by losses in the Shipbuilding, Gas & Water, and Precision Instruments sectors.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.39%, closing the session at 7,015.20, led by gains in the Gold, A-REITs and Consumer Staples sectors.

China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.23% to close the session at 3,038.55, and the Shenzhen CSI 300 gained 0.19%, closing at 3,518.52.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declined 0.83% and closed at 17,383.50.

Eurozone at 06:00 AM ET

The European STOXX 600 index was down 0.55%, Germany's DAX declined 0.07%, while France's CAC slid 0.51%.

The U.K.'s FTSE 100 traded lower by 0.37%.

Commodities at 06:00 AM ET

Crude Oil WTI was trading higher by 1.18% at $75.72/bbl, and Brent was up by 1.09% at $80.74/bbl.

Natural Gas gained 1.29% to $2.985.

Gold was trading up 0.13% at $2015.05, Silver gained 0.07% to $24.698, and Copper climbed 0.14% to $3.8055.

Dow futures were up 0.01%, S&P 500 futures slid 0.05%, while Nasdaq 100 Futures dropped 0.04%.

The U.S. Dollar Index was up 0.04% to 103.23. USD/JPY declined 0.05% to 148.59, and AUD/USD slid 0.18% to 1.5110.
