Nintendo Switch 2 To Deliver PlayStation 4-Level Performance, Leaked Documents Reveal

Zinger Key Points
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to match the performance of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to leaked documents.
  • The focus is on maintaining the hybrid nature of the console while improving its graphical capabilities.

Reports suggest that Nintendo ADR's NTDOY upcoming console, often referred to as the Nintendo Switch 2, may have performance capabilities similar to Sony Group Corp's SONY PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Corp.'s MSFT Xbox One.

This information was unveiled in a heavily redacted summary document labeled "NG Switch Draft.pdf" (a stand-in for "next-generation Switch"), which became public due to the FTC v. Microsoft hearings, according to Kotaku.

Activision Blizzard Inc ATVI executives, including CEO Bobby Kotick, met with Nintendo in December 2022 to discuss the Switch 2.

As stated in the documentation examined by The Verge, Chris Schnakenberg, Activision’s head of platform strategy and partner relations, said: "Given the closer alignment to Gen8 platforms in terms of performance and our previous offerings on PS4/Xbox One, it is reasonable to assume we could make something compelling for the NG Switch as well.

"It would be helpful to secure early access to development hardware prototypes and prove that out nice and early."

Thus, the goal appears to be maintaining the hybrid nature of the Switch while enhancing its power and potentially improving game graphics.
