Jimmy Kimmel Claps Back At Trump's Oscars Critique: 'Isn't It Past Your Jail Time?'

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the Oscars, responded to Donald Trump‘s criticism of his hosting skills with a sharp retort.

What Happened: Kimmel, the host of ABC’s late-night TV show, took the stage at the 96th annual Academy Awards and read out a review of his hosting skills, which was highly critical. The review was attributed to Trump, who was watching and had posted it on his Truth Social site less than an hour before Kimmel read it at the Oscars.

Trump wrote, "Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars?"

"His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be," he added.

In response, according to The Hill, Kimmel said, “Well, thank you, President Trump.”

“Thank you for watching. I'm surprised you're still up — isn't it past your jail time?”

"Blah, blah, blah… Make America Great Again," Kimmel said.

Why It Matters: This exchange is the latest in a series of public criticisms between Kimmel and Trump. In February, Kimmel mocked Trump’s appointment of Lara Trump to a senior role at the Republican National Committee (RNC) amid his ongoing legal battles. Earlier this year, Kimmel criticized Trump’s defense of his supporters in a Supreme Court hearing, referring to them as “MAGA morons.”

Kimmel has been a vocal critic of Trump, often using his platform to mock the former president’s statements and actions. This latest exchange at the Oscars is a continuation of their public feud, with Kimmel using the platform to hit back at Trump’s criticism.

The former president is currently facing various legal disputes encompassing both federal and state charges, spanning multiple locations such as New York City, Washington, Atlanta, Florida, and Georgia. Despite the accusations, the ex-president maintains his innocence, referring to the cases as a “witch hunt.”

According to Real Clear Politics, at the national level, Trump held 47.6% support among voters, While Biden trailed with 45.8% support.
