It's almost that time of year.

The 2017 Benzinga Global Fintech Awards is a competition to showcase the companies with the most impressive technology that are paving the future in financial services and capital markets.

To get you prepared for this year's awards, Benzinga will profile each fintech company that has applied. Want to get involved? Submit your company here. For this installment, we spoke with SprinkleBit Marketing Manager Eirik Nordgaard (answers have been edited for length and clarity).

SprinkleBit is a social investing network and community started with one simple idea: Crowdsourcing and technology can help people make better investment decisions.

Our mission is to simplify investing for everyone through education and insight.

SprinkleBit, which means "to spread information," looks to help you make better investment decisions in an easier and more fun way, regardless of how much money you have. You can learn how to trade, follow top investors, practice risk free and invest for the future, all from one, intuitive social investing platform.

SprinkleBit's most unique feature is the Value Prediction Index (VPI); the VPI algorithm uses recent stock trades made through SprinkleBit to score each stock based on whether the user community thinks its price will increase.

Our primary customers are tech savvy millennials looking for new ways to invest and manage their money. However, we see a large diversity among our users.

    Since 2012.

Last May, we moved our office from San Diego to Wall St. Part of our team works from the Ukraine, so the move from the West Coast to NYC made working across continents and time zones somewhat easier.

CEO and board member Alexander Wallin has grown SprinkleBit from an idea to fruition. By sourcing a great team, getting approval from the financial regulators (FINRA) to operate the U.S. first social investment network. He managed the building of a platform that sets the standard for fintech and connected it with multiple exchanges. Finally, he managed the partnership with Sweden's largest bank.

Vlad leads the bank integration team, managing the customized development for our own financial applications as well as our bank partners.
