Speaking to Benzinga, Ascendiant Capital Markets Senior Research Analyst Theodore O’Neill said that cheap gas prices are drawing consumer attention away from electric vehicles like those from Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA).

“[The] stock is trading down as oil prices fall, which makes consumers seem less likely to care about mileage or non-gas car options,” he said.

Theodore also noted that there have been some concerns about tax subsidies for electric vehicles.
