U.S. stocks traded mixed midway through trading, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 50 points on Monday.
The Dow traded up 0.13% to 41,992.95 while the NASDAQ dipped 1.42% to 18,888.78. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.70% to 5,786.44.

Sage Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:SAGE) confirmed that Biogen Inc. (NASDAQ:BIIB) submitted an unsolicited, nonbinding proposal to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Sage Therapeutics not already owned by Biogen for $7.22 per share.

Asian markets closed lower on Monday, with China's Shanghai Composite Index falling 0.25%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declining 1% and India's BSE Sensex falling 1.36%.
