Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) ABX shares are trading higher by $1.11 at $20.43 in Thursday's session.
The catalyst for the rally is a Q4 EPS beat of $0.02 with a $500 million beat for sales. The company forecasts FY 2017 production to be at 5.6-5.9 million ounces of Gold.
Also, the rally is aided by nearly a $10.00 gain in April Gold futures.
After a higher open, it retreated only $0.07 to $19.65 before continuing its move higher. So far, the ensuing rally has taken the issue to $20.74, but has since backed off that level. That high comes in just above its August 22 high ($20.41), but is just shy of its August 19 high ($20.77).
The issue is attempting to post its first close over $20.00 since August 23, when it ended that session at $20.09.
