<p>It seems that <strong>Panasonic's</strong> (OTC: PCRFY) restructuring plan has not been successful.

According to <a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-57583850-92/panasonic-posts-hefty-2012-losses-amid-tv-sales-decline/">CNET</a>, the Japanese electronics giant posted another major loss. The company lost 754.3 billion Yen ($7.42 billion U.S.) during the fiscal 2012 sales period after sales declined seven percent to 7,846 billion Yen ($71.86 billion U.S.). </p>

<p>Once again, TV sales -- which fell 20 percent in 2012 -- proved to be a big part of the problem. This has created some concern that the company may close its TV unit, particularly after Panasonic President Kazuhiro Tsuga vowed to eliminate unprofitable businesses.</p>

<p>Thus far, Panasonic has reportedly reduced its plasma TV manufacturing efforts to <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/news/13/03/3429536/panasonic-finally-gives-up-on-this-dying-technology">less than one million units</a>. The company was expected compensate for this decline by producing more LCD displays, but that may have changed now that another annual loss has been reported.</p>

<p>There is also the chance that Panasonic may get out of the plasma TV business altogether. In March, rumors claimed that the ill-fated manufacturer would <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/news/13/03/3432137/panasonic-rumored-to-sell-local-asset-to-htc-or-tsmc">sell its plasma business</a> to HTC or <b>Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company</b> (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/tsm#NYSE">TSM</a>). It is not clear what either firm would do with plasma displays, which have been mostly replaced by cheaper and more efficient LCD and LED televisions.</p>

<p>Some have speculated that Panasonic could <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/news/13/03/3421228/will-4k-ultra-hd-televisions-save-sony-and-panasonic">ride the 4K gravy train</a> to success, but that train has yet to come into town. With prices ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, 4K Ultra HD displays are some of the most expensive TVs available. This could make it difficult for Panasonic to persuade consumers to upgrade.</p>

<p>Last year Panasonic joined forces with <strong>Sony</strong> (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/sne#NYSE">SNE</a>) to build <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/news/12/06/2693434/sony-panasonic-join-forces-for-oled-production">OLED displays</a>. By teaming up, the two tech titans hoped that they could reduce expenses and improve production of this newer technology. Little has come from this effort, so it might not be a huge deal for Panasonic to walk away. However, it could be a huge blow to Sony, which has been relying on Panasonic's assistance to build cheaper televisions.</p>

<p>Panasonic is not the only Japanese TV maker that has been encountering losses. While Sony may be able to use its PlayStation division (and other profitable units) to offset any and all TV loses in 2013, Panasonic relies heavily on TV sales. The same is true for <strong>Sharp</strong> (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/shcay#OTC">SHCAY</a>).</p>

<p>Sharp struck fear in investors when it warned that it <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/news/12/11/3048137/can-sharp-and-panasonic-last-another-year">may not survive</a>. Unlike Panasonic, which is somewhat diversified, the majority of Sharp's business comes from TV sales. The company also produces microwaves, calculators, fax machines, printers, solar panels, LED lighting systems and a <a href="http://sharp-world.com/products/smartphone/fx/index.html">very low-end smartphone</a>.</p>

<p>None of those items have been able to offset the decline of Sharp's TV business.</p>

Panasonic's TV Sales Fall 20 Percent

S&P Upgrades MetroPCS from B+ to BB; Outlook Lowered to Stable

<p>If <strong>Sony's</strong> (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/sne#NYSE">SNE</a>) oversized <a href="http://store.sony.com/c/All-In-One-Desktops/en/c/S_Desktops">all-in-one PC/tablet</a> combo was not big enough for consumers, <strong>Intel</strong> (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/intc#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) might have the perfect replacement.

According to <a href="http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20130422PD207.html">DigiTimes</a>, Intel has begun to push its so-called <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2012/09/11/intel-unveils-adaptive-all-in-one-computers-you-can-carry-around-the-home/">adaptive all-in-one PC</a> concept -- which provides a platform to build semi-portable desktop computers -- to manufacturers.</p>

<p>Sony was one of the first companies to experiment with this concept. The Japanese tech giant released a 20-inch, 11-pound Vaio machine last fall. Featuring Windows 8, a touch screen and a built-in battery, this all-in-one PC could be used with or without a power outlet.</p>

<p>When Intel announced the new platform last fall, the company seemed to be focused on building machines with displays that measured at least 20 inches diagonally. According to the DigiTimes report, Intel has "suggested" to manufacturers that they build machines between 18.4 and 27 inches.</p>

<p>The smallest size might seem ideal for business professionals who want a little more power (and a larger screen) than what is currently offered by an <strong>Apple</strong> (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/aapl#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) iPad or an <strong>Amazon</strong> (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/amzn#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) Kindle Fire. The largest size, however, is big enough to replace a small high-def television.</p>

<p>Given the added weight and expanded screen size, consumers might be wary about the portability of these devices.</p>

<p><strong>Panasonic</strong> (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/pc#NYSE">PC</a>) made some progress earlier this year when it unveiled the world's first <a href="http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2414097,00.asp">4K tablet</a>. The device, which was built to be a full Windows 8 Pro PC, comes with an 18-inch Ultra HD display. At 5.3 pounds, it is half as heavy as Sony's all-in-one desktop.</p>

<p>In addition to Sony and Panasonic, Lenovo and <strong>Dell</strong> (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/dell#NASDAQ">DELL</a>) are also in the process of building new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/15/dell-xps-18-hybrid-preorder/">oversized tablets</a>.</p>

<p>This is not the first new PC concept that Intel has decided to support. Two years ago the company said that it would spend $300 million to create a <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/11/08/1852079/intel-to-pay-300m-for-a-macbook-air-killer">MacBook Air competitor</a>. This led to the design of the Ultrabook concept, which provides manufacturers with smaller, lighter and more efficient processors, allowing them to build thinner and lighter notebooks.</p>

<p>Thus far, Ultrabooks have not become the sales-igniting, record-breaking format Intel had anticipated. However, they are still expected to account for <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/news/12/12/3164254/intel-ultrabooks-to-account-for-40-of-all-notebook-shipments-in-2013">40 percent of all notebook shipments</a> in 2013.</p>

<p>The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.04 percent to 14,572.85.</p>

<p>The S&amp;P 500 closed down 0.45 percent at 1,562.17.</p>

<p><b>Construction Spending</b></p>

<p>The U.S. Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that construction spending during February 2013 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $885.1 billion, 1.2 percent above the revised January estimate of $874.8 billion.</p>

<p>The February figure is 7.9 percent above the February 2012 estimate of $820.7 billion. During the first 2 months of this year, construction spending amounted to $120.1 billion, 6.6 percent above the $112.6 billion for the same period in 2012.</p>

<p><b>ISM Manufacturing Index</b></p>

<p>In the Institute for Supply Management's Manufacturing survey released Monday morning, the manufacturing sector continued to grow in March, but at a slower pace than in February.</p>

<p>The headline printed 51.3, a decrease of 2.9 points from February's reading of 54.2 percent, indicating expansion in manufacturing for the fourth consecutive month, but at a slower rate. It has bounced around this level for the past year, indicating no clear trend.</p>

<p><b>China Manufacturing PMI</b></p>

<p>The HSBC China Manufacturing PMI fell to 51.6 in March from 51.7 in February on expectations of a flat reading at 51.7. The analysts at HSBC noted that operating conditions and production levels have now improved in China for five consecutive months and that total orders rose for the sixth consecutive month. </p>

<p>Markets did not react to the news positively overnight. Chinese shares fell slightly overnight by 0.1 percent, as measured by the Shanghai Composite Index, however shares traded as low as 0.42 percent following the data release. Top gaining sectors included pharmaceutical companies and retail companies with Information Technology and Industrial companies lagging.</p>

<p><b>Commodities</b></p>

<p>Gold rose 0.23 percent to close at 1,598.90 while crude oil dipped 0.25 percent to close at 97.40.</p>

<p><b>Currency</b></p>

<p>The PowerShares DB US Dollar Index (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/uup#NYSE">UUP</a>) closed down 0.35 percent at 22.52.</p>

<p>European shares were closed Monday for the Easter Monday holiday, so the EUR/USD pair last closed down 0.12 percent at 1.2804.</p>

<p><b>Stock Movers</b></p>

<p>The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/ndaq#Nasdaq">NDAQ</a>) today announced it has entered into an agreement with BGC Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/bgcp#NASDAQ">BGCP</a>) to acquire the eSpeed platform for a purchase price of $750 million in cash plus certain contingent issuances of stock that approximate certain tax benefits to NASDAQ OMX.</p>

<p>Shares of NDAQ closed down 0.90 percent after the news and closed at 32.01.</p>

<p>Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/tsla#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) shot up early in the day and settled later on, remaining up 13.58 percent to $43.04 after the company said sales of its Model S cars exceeded its estimates.</p>

<p>Forrester Research (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/forr#NASDAQ">FORR</a>) was also up, gaining 9.35 percent to $34.61 after the company intends to commence tender offer to repurchase up to $130 million of its common stock.</p>

<p>VirnetX Holding (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/vhc#NYSE">VHC</a>) took a hit today, falling 8.92 percent to $17.46 as the volatile stock lived up to its reputation for wild swings.</p>

<p>Panasonic (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/pc#NYSE">PC</a>) was also down, falling 8.46 percent to $6.71 after the company announced delisting schedule from the NYSE.</p>

<h2>Lithium Americas (LAC)</h2>

The reason being a <a href="https://lithiumamericas.com/news/news-details/2024/Lithium-Americas-Receives-Conditional-Commitment-for-2.26-Billion-ATVM-Loan-from-the-U.S.-DOE-for-Construction-of-Thacker-Pass/default.aspx">funding commitment</a> of $2.26 billion from the U.S. Department of Energy for the Thacker Pass project. I believe that the positive momentum for LAC stock is likely to sustain as the growth story remains undervalued.</p>



<p>It&rsquo;s worth noting that the Thacker Pass asset will <a href="https://lithiumamericas.com/news/news-details/2024/Lithium-Americas-Provides-a-Thacker-Pass-Construction-Plan-Update/default.aspx">commence production in 2027</a>. However, the market valuation of the Company is significantly lower as compared to the <a href="https://lithiumamericas.com/files/doc_presentation/2024/03/LAC-Corporate-Presentation.pdf">after-tax net present value</a> of $5.7 billion. Over the next few years, the valuation gap is likely to be closed.</p>



<p>I must add that once the asset commences production, the average annual EBITDA visibility is $1.1 billion. This implies healthy cash flows over the long term with the asset life estimated at 40 years. The weakness in lithium price is therefore a golden opportunity to accumulate LAC stock.</p>



<h2>Piedmont Lithium (PLL)</h2>

In the last 12 months, PLL stock has plunged by 75%. The correction is overdone and with a quality asset base, I expect multibagger returns from current levels. It&rsquo;s a matter of holding the stock with patience through the lithium bear market.</p>



<p>Straight to valuations, Piedmont currently commands a market valuation of $252 million. This is miniscule as compared to the present value of the Company&rsquo;s key assets. To put things into perspective, the Company&rsquo;s Ghana asset has an after-tax NPV of $1.33 billion. Further, the Carolina and Tennessee asset have a <a href="https://piedmontlithium.com/wp-content/uploads/Piedmont-Lithium-Corporate-Presentation_February-2024.pdf">combined after-tax NPV</a> of $4.5 billion.</p>



<p>Of course, these assets require financing and that&rsquo;s the key catalyst for PLL stock. The Company is looking for strategic partners for its U.S. assets. Once financing is secured for construction, I expect valuations to skyrocket. An important point to note is that Piedmont already has supply agreements with the likes of LG Chem and <strong>Tesla</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/"><strong>TSLA</strong></a></span>). Extended offtake agreements can provide clear cash flow visibility. This makes it one of those 7 battery stocks to buy before the next big rally.</p>



<h2>Ford (F)</h2>

The Company&rsquo;s investment plans include setting-up EV battery plans. Before discussing that, it&rsquo;s worth noting that F stock trades at a forward price-earnings ratio of 7.4. Further, the stock offers an attractive dividend yield of 4.4%. The blue-chip stock is worth accumulating at the current valuation gap.</p>



<p>In May 2021, Ford and SK On announced a joint venture to &ldquo;produce approximately 60 GWh annually in traction battery cells and array modules.&rdquo; It&rsquo;s worth noting that Ford&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href="https://corporate.ford.com/articles/electrification/ford-commits-to-manufacturing-batteries.html">global BEV plan</a> calls for at least 240 gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery cell capacity by 2030.&rdquo;</p>



<p>Therefore, there is ample scope for growth in the next five years. It&rsquo;s worth noting that in November 2023, Ford <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/21/ford-scales-back-ev-battery-plant-in-michigan.html">scaled back plans</a> for a $3.5 billion battery plant in Michigan. It does not come as a surprise with the recent slowdown in EV sales. However, Ford has ample financial flexibility to aggressively invest in multiple plans once growth gains traction.</p>



<h2>Standard Lithium (SLI)</h2>

In my view, SLI stock is likely to deliver 10x to 20x returns by 2030.</p>



<p>To put things into perspective, Standard Lithium commands a current market valuation of $210 million. In comparison, the Company&rsquo;s key asset has an <a href="https://d1io3yog0oux5.cloudfront.net/_e78c66e58d8d6ed60f616b7a71b68acc/standardlithium/db/314/2108/pdf/Nov+6%2C+2023+Corp+Presentation+RFS.pdf">after-tax net present value</a> of $4.5 billion. If other assets are included, the after-tax NPV is likely to be more than $5 billion.</p>



<p>I believe that there are two impending catalysts for a massive rally. First, if lithium trends higher, sentiments will reverse for <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/battery/lithium/">lithium stocks</a>. Further, Standard Lithium needs financing of $1.2 billion for its key asset (South West Arkansas). Once the financing is secured, SLI stock is likely to go ballistic. It&rsquo;s one of the 7 battery stocks to buy before the next big rally.</p>

After diving to a recent low of $5.54, QS is now at $6.13 and is slowly trending higher.</p>



<p>Helping,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.streetinsider.com/news.php?id=22785221&amp;classic=1">analysts at Baird raised their price target to $8 with a neutral rating</a>. They believe that new CEO Dr. Siva Sivaram could help the company achieve commercial scale production.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Even better, the company just starting shipping its Alpha-2 prototype battery cells. These,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.quantumscape.com/quantumscape-appoints-dr-siva-sivaram-as-ceo-to-lead-next-phase-of-growth-2/#:~:text=Alpha%2D2%20prototypes%20are%20a,shipping%20A0%20prototypes%20to%20customers.">according to Sivaram</a>&nbsp;are a &ldquo;significant milestone on the roadmap to deliver QSE-5, QuantumScape&rsquo;s first planned commercial product.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p>



<p><a href="https://s29.q4cdn.com/884415011/files/doc_financials/2023/q4/QS-Shareholder-Letter-Q4-2023.pdf">He added</a>,&nbsp;&ldquo;We expect our transformation to continue in 2024, culminating in the integration of these improvements into our target first commercial product, the QSE-5 cell. Our goal is to begin low volume QSE-5 prototype production in 2024, with higher volumes targeted in 2025,&rdquo; as quoted in a shareholder letter.</p>



<p>Plus, according to the company, it has a liquidity buffer of $1.07 billion at the moment. That should provide the company with enough cash as it transitions from prototype to product.</p>



<h2><strong>Albemarle (ALB)</strong></h2>

<p>While lithium prices are still low, shares of ALB have been pushing higher. In fact, since plunging to a March low of $106.35, it&rsquo;s now back up to $131.69. From here, if ALB can break above current resistance, it could rally back to $140 near term. Sure, there are still plenty of bearish analyst ratings on the stock, but with the blood flowing in the streets, it&rsquo;s time to buy. Especially ahead of an eventual lithium price rebound.</p>



<p>Helping, analysts at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tipranks.com/news/the-fly/albemarle-price-target-lowered-to-162-from-168-at-loop-capital">Loop Capital recently raised their price target on ALB to $168 from $144</a>&nbsp;with a buy rating. They added, &ldquo;The stock has bounced off its lows, owing to a commensurate move in spot lithium prices in China, and the nascent recovery in lithium prices could signal that the destocking downstream at cathode/cell/battery makers is reaching its conclusion,&rdquo;&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tipranks.com/news/the-fly/albemarle-price-target-raised-to-168-from-144-at-loop-capital">as quoted by TheFly.com</a>.</p>



<h2><strong>Global X Lithium ETF (LIT)</strong></h2>

<p>With an expense ratio of 0.75%, the ETF holds 40 stocks, investing in the full lithium cycle. That includes mining and refining through battery production. Some of its top holdings include Albemarle,&nbsp;<strong>TDK Corp</strong>. (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/ttdky-stock-quote/"><strong>TTDKY</strong></a>),&nbsp;<strong>Pilbara Minerals</strong>&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pilbf-stock-quote/"><strong>PILBF</strong></a>), and <strong>Panasonic Holdings</strong>&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pcrfy-stock-quote/"><strong>PCRFY</strong></a>) to name a few.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Plus, the ETF trades at just under $46 a share, which means we can pick up 100 shares for about $4,600. That&rsquo;s far better than picking up 100 shares of just one of the LIT ETF holdings, such as ALB for about $13,169. Not only can we gain exposure to 40 top stocks, we can do it cheap.</p>



<p>With an eventual recovery in lithium prices, and rising battery demand, the LIT ETF could soar.</p>

Beyond macroeconomic concerns that may be keeping consumers out of the market, advancements in battery technology will be crucial for the mass adoption that is still the likely outcome for this sector. And that&rsquo;s why now is a good time to invest in <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/battery/">battery stocks</a>. &nbsp;</p>



<p>Despite the proliferation of television commercials that are creating awareness, EVs currently make up <a href="https://www.utilitydive.com/news/electric-vehicles-EVs-new-car-sales-2023/700799/" target="_blank">about 9% of new car sales</a>&nbsp;in the United States. That number is sharply higher from where it was just two years ago, but it&rsquo;s not where it&rsquo;s likely to go. For that to happen, issues like range anxiety, battery life, and charging time will have to be addressed.</p>



<p>Therefore, companies involved in battery production are playing just as critical a role today as they did when <strong>Tesla</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/"><strong>TSLA</strong></a></span>) was the only game in town. And battery technology is likely to evolve significantly by 2030 from where it is today. &nbsp;</p>



<p>If you think of it like what&rsquo;s happening in the chip sector, investing in EV companies is investing in the AI application, investing in battery stocks is like investing in the companies that make the AI application possible. That&rsquo;s where the multi-bagger growth can come from, and here are three names to consider.&nbsp;</p>



<h2>Albemarle (ALB)&nbsp;</h2>

Lithium prices dropped in 2023 as weakness in the Chinese economy, and weaker-than-expected demand in the U.S. left the market oversupplied.&nbsp;</p>



<p>However, for the foreseeable future, lithium-ion batteries will remain the standard for battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Therefore, one way to invest in the future of EVs is to invest in companies that are helping get lithium to market. &nbsp;</p>



<p>The supply-demand imbalance <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/arielcohen/2023/12/27/lithium-price-collapse-secures-green-transition-causes-headaches/?sh=7202db774a61" target="_blank">may take some time to unwind</a>. This is evident in the ALB stock chart. The stock is down 32% in the last 12 months after climbing to a record high at the end of 2022. Yet revenue was up 31% year-over-year (YOY) in 2023 and even earnings saw a slight 1% YOY gain. &nbsp;</p>



<p>Despite the belief that demand for EVs will grow in both China and the U.S., the lithium market is going through a price discovery stage. For its part, Albemarle announced it was going to be <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/the-3-most-undervalued-lithium-stocks-to-buy-in-april-2024/" target="_blank">cutting capital expenditures in 2024</a>, but this is a company that will be ready to ramp up production when conditions are more favorable. &nbsp;</p>



<h2>Panasonic Holdings (PCRFY)&nbsp;</h2>

With Tesla deliveries slowing, that may not seem as impressive, but it is. Tesla is still far-and-away the market share leader in the U.S., and that won&rsquo;t change soon.&nbsp;</p>



<p>And Panasonic is still part of Tesla&rsquo;s plans in its growth. In 2023, Panasonic announced plans to <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/panasonic-boost-battery-output-teslas-nevada-gigafactory-nikkei-2023-06-05/" target="_blank">increase production at Tesla&rsquo;s Nevada gigafactory</a> by 10% in the next three years. And the company has plans to expand its manufacturing footprint in the U.S. even further. All told, the company plans to quadruple its production capacity through 2031. &nbsp;</p>



<p>Plus, Panasonic is forming partnerships with other companies such as <strong>Lucid</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lcid-stock-quote/"><strong>LCID</strong></a></span>). And it&rsquo;s making investments in silicon-based and solid-state battery technology that will keep the company relevant as the landscape for battery design changes. &nbsp;</p>



<p>And if investors need another reason, consider that&nbsp;PCRFY stock is objectively cheap. The stock currently trades for about 7.3x forward earnings and has a dividend yield of about 1.9%. &nbsp;</p>



<h2>QuantumScape (QS)&nbsp;</h2>

The company has a partnership with <strong>Volkswagen Group </strong>(OTCMKTS:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/vagwy-stock-quote/"><strong>VAGWY</strong></a></span>), and in its investor presentation QuantumScape noted it has <a href="https://s29.q4cdn.com/884415011/files/doc_presentation/2024/03/19/QS-IR-Presentation-March-24.pdf" target="_blank">commercial agreements with six automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)</a>.&nbsp;</p>



<p>As many investors know, a solid-state battery addresses many of the concerns that consumers have about lithium-ion batteries. That is, they will have a longer range, charge faster, and have a longer overall life. &nbsp;</p>



<p>The company doesn&rsquo;t have a product on the market yet but is on track for low-volume commercial production in 2024. And the company has the cash runway to ger there. &nbsp;</p>



<p>The bigger question for investors is when will QuantumScape turn a profit? That&rsquo;s harder to answer, and therein lies the risk with QS stock. It&rsquo;s also not the only company developing a solid-state solution. Nevertheless, if you&rsquo;re a speculative investor, QS stock is one of the battery stocks to watch. &nbsp;</p>

Tesla Stock: Plunging Toward My Price Target

<p>When industry sentiments are positive, the stocks in that industry are generally overvalued. It&rsquo;s only when industry sentiments are depressed that multiple stocks trading at a valuation gap can be found. That is perfectly true for the electric vehicle industry. <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/consumer-discretionary/automotive/electric-vehicles/">EV stocks</a> have plunged as pessimists talk about the industry being dead.</p>



<p>It&rsquo;s a fact that EVs face macroeconomic and competitive headwinds. It&rsquo;s also a fact that EV adoption has been slower than expected. However, it&rsquo;s too early to believe the industry is dead. Once macroeconomic headwinds wane, I expect EV deliveries growth to accelerate.</p>



<p>Further, competition is intense, but not all EV companies will survive. Players will fade out on the back of sustained cash burn. The ones remaining will emerge stronger and lead the next bull run for the industry.</p>



<p>This column discusses three EV stocks to buy now that are undervalued and can deliver multibagger returns by the end of the decade.</p>



<h2>Tesla (TSLA)</h2>

With factors of macroeconomic headwinds and competition, margin compression has impacted stock sentiment. In recent news, Tesla announced a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/tesla-cuts-us-prices-3-electric-vehicle-models-difficult-week-rcna148693">$2,000 price cut</a> for three of its five models in the U.S. That will have a further impact on EBITDA margin and cash flows.</p>



<p>However, it&rsquo;s important to note that Tesla has strong fundamentals. Once the macroeconomic headwind is navigated, deliveries growth will likely accelerate. Further, there will be casualties in the EV industry on the back of intense competition. Tesla is well-positioned to survive and grow in the long term.</p>



<p>From a stock price perspective, TSLA stock has plunged below $150. Considering weak sales and margin compression, I would not go overboard. However, it makes sense to gradually accumulate. If EV adoption continues to grow globally in the coming years, Tesla will remain among the top three players. <a href="https://hbr.org/2020/02/lessons-from-teslas-approach-to-innovation">Innovation will provide the company</a> with an edge over its peers.</p>



<h2>Li Auto (LI)</h2>

I see this as a strong stock performance, considering the industry sentiments. At a forward price-earnings ratio of 18, LI stock is trading at a valuation gap.</p>



<p>I believe if I had to choose an emerging EV company from China, it would be Li Auto. The company looks better positioned for growth and value creation when compared to the likes of <strong>Nio</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nio-stock-quote/"><strong>NIO</strong></a></span>) and <strong>XPeng </strong>(NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/xpev-stock-quote/"><strong>XPEV</strong></a></span>).</p>



<p>It&rsquo;s worth noting that Li Auto ended 2023 with a <a href="https://ir.lixiang.com/news-releases/news-release-details/li-auto-inc-announces-unaudited-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2">cash buffer of $14.6 billion.</a> Further, for Q4 2023, the company reported free cash flow of $2 billion. That implies an annualized FCF potential of $8 billion.</p>



<p>Therefore, financial flexibility is high for aggressive investment in retail network expansion within China. At the same time, the company continues to invest in technological upgrades and new models. In April, Li <a href="https://ir.lixiang.com/news-releases/news-release-details/li-auto-inc-launches-li-l6-five-seat-premium-family-suv">announced the launch</a> of Li L6, a five-seat premium family SUV. The commercial deliveries for L6 have commenced this month and will support healthy deliveries growth.</p>



<h2>Panasonic Holdings (PCRFY)</h2>

PCRFY stock trades at an attractive forward price-earnings ratio of 7 and has remained largely sideways in the last 12 months. I expect a big breakout on the upside once industry sentiments reverse.</p>



<p>An important point to note about Panasonic is that the company is high on innovation. Besides planning for EV battery capacity expansion, the company is investing in making batteries with a longer range and higher safety.</p>



<p>In December 2023, Panasonic announced a partnership with <strong>Sila Nanotechnologies</strong> to procure next-generation silicon anode material for EV batteries. With silicon-based EV batteries, the company <a href="https://na.panasonic.com/us/news/panasonic-energy-partners-sila-procurement-next-generation-silicon-anode-material-ev-batteries">expects to achieve a 25% increase</a> in battery energy density.</p>



<p>In terms of manufacturing capacity, Panasonic expects a battery capacity increase of 200 GWh by 2031. That would imply a quadrupling of capacity from the last financial year. Panasonic also expects a steady improvement in EBITDA margin in the coming years.</p>

Tesla (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/"><strong>TSLA</strong></a></span>) remains the King of EVs despite consistent hurdles in recent months. But it&rsquo;s evident that the&nbsp;competition is picking up, with other EV companies offering better models at better prices.</p>



<p>According to <strong>Bank of America</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/bac-stock-quote/"><strong>BAC</strong></a></span>) analysts, Tesla could see a sharp decline of 18% in 2026, marking a 65% decline from its 2022 data. Recent reports show EV sales are slowing, forcing other companies to cut prices and focus more on hybrid models. However, U.S. EV sales hit a record 1.2 million in 2023, with projections for more growth in 2024.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Analysts recommend considering these top <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/consumer-discretionary/automotive/electric-vehicles/">EV stocks</a> instead of Tesla right now.</p>



<h2><strong>BYD Auto Co. (BYDDF)</strong></h2>

In 2008, BYDDF&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/trends/founder-of-teslas-biggest-rival-drank-battery-fluid-to-impress-investor-berkshire-hathaway-report-11483321.html">co-founder Wang Chuanfu drank battery fluid</a> to showcase its cleanliness. Shortly thereafter, Buffett bought a 10% BYDDF stake for $252M, although he originally offered to buy 25%.</p>



<p>Just today, Shenzhen&rsquo;s EV giant revealed that they have named their <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/04/38352429/warren-buffett-backed-byd-names-cybertruck-challenger-shark-with-plug-in-hybrid-system-for-extra-bit">newest electric pickup as Shark</a>. The model aims to compete with Tesla&rsquo;s Cybertruck, and many are considering the Shark more than the latter. Also, this is BYDDF&rsquo;s first entry into electric pickups. The price for this model has yet to be disclosed, but it will feature a plug-in hybrid system. The launch date is expected before the end of the year, with this model targeting the global market.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Additionally, BYD Auto Co. surpassed Tesla as the top EV seller in Q4 of 2023. Debuted in November, the Cybertruck is only available in the U.S. market, and it also added some hurdles for its entry in the Chinese market. On the other hand, BYDDF has yet to venture into the U.S., reducing direct competition. The Cybertruck is fully electric, while the Shark uses hybrid technology. </p>



<h2><strong>Li Auto (LI)</strong></h2>

In fiscal year 2023, Li Auto delivered 376,000 vehicles, an 182.2% year-over-year (<strong>YOY</strong>) increase, maintaining lower prices and expanding margins efficiently. Analysts forecast 75% upside with a $51 target on LI stock.</p>



<p>Recently, the EV company <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/chinas-li-auto-cuts-car-prices-market-share-battle-2024-04-22/">slashed prices by 5% on four models</a>, continuing the ongoing EV price war. The move follows Tesla&rsquo;s and BYDDF&rsquo;s price cuts. Li Auto cut prices by 18,000 to 30,000 yuan ($2,485-$4,142) and offered refunds to recent buyers. Earlier discounts were offered in January.</p>



<p>The Li L6 received <a href="https://cnevpost.com/2024/04/22/li-auto-l6-10000-orders-72-hours/">10,000+ orders within 72 hours of availability.</a> The vehicles are now in Li Auto&rsquo;s 480 retail centers in China. The Li L9, launched in 2022, had over 30,000 orders in the same timeframe. The company required a RMB 5,000 deposit for each Li L9 order, refundable within a specified period. The Li L6 launched on April 18 with Pro and Max trims, priced at RMB 249,800 and RMB 279,800. Orders opened with a RMB 5,000 refundable deposit.</p>



<h2><strong>Panasonic Holdings Corp. (PCRFY)</strong></h2>

Investments in silicon-based and solid-state battery tech ensure this battery giant&rsquo;s long-term relevance.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Moreover, Shinobi Therapeutics <a href="https://pharmaceuticalmanufacturer.media/pharma-manufacturing-news/latest-pharmaceutical-manufacturing-news/panasonic-and-shinobi-therapeutics-to-partner/">partnered</a> with Panasonic Holdings Corp. and Kyoto University&rsquo;s CiRA to develop an efficient, low-cost iPS-T cell therapy manufacturing platform. Panasonic aims to make these therapies more accessible. Nissan and PCRFY will soon introduce <a href="https://japannews.yomiuri.co.jp/business/companies/20240421-181518/">a service connecting car data to home appliances</a> via Internet of Things (<strong>IoT</strong>). I, however, believe the long-term outlook for the industry remains positive. The correction presents a good opportunity to accumulate potential multibagger battery stocks.</p>



<p>In terms of growth potential, the EV battery market size was valued at $63.51 billion in 2023. The market size is <a href="https://www.precedenceresearch.com/electric-vehicle-battery-market">expected to increase</a> to $573.08 billion by 2033. That would imply a 9-fold growth in the next 10 years. Clearly, there is scope for massive wealth creation, and it&rsquo;s a good time to accumulate quality battery stocks.</p>



<p>Specific to battery manufacturers, the focus should be on companies looking at capacity expansion coupled with innovation. This column focuses on three potential multibagger battery stocks to buy and hold until 2030.</p>



<h2>Panasonic Holdings (PCRFY)</h2>

The reasons are macroeconomic headwinds and the slower-than-expected adoption of EVs. However, it&rsquo;s a potential multibagger battery stock to buy and trades at a deep valuation gap. Currently, PCRFY stock trades at a forward price-earnings ratio of 7.3.</p>



<p>One reason to like Panasonic is its aggressive growth plans. As compared to last financial year&rsquo;s battery capacity, the company plans to <a href="https://www.panasonic.com/global/energy/company/strategy/2023.html">quadruple capacity to 200 GWh</a> by 2031. That will imply steady revenue and EBITDA growth in the coming years. Panasonic has also guided for EBITDA margin expansion during this period.</p>



<p>At the same time, Panasonic is investing in innovation. That will ensure the company maintains or gains market share by the end of the decade. In December 2023, Panasonic partnered with <strong>Sila Nanotechnologies </strong>to &ldquo;purchase <a href="https://na.panasonic.com/us/news/panasonic-energy-partners-sila-procurement-next-generation-silicon-anode-material-ev-batteries">next-generation nano-composite silicon</a> anode material for EV lithium-ion batteries.&rdquo;</p>



<p>That will help in achieving a 25% increase in battery energy density by 2031. Further, battery performance will likely increase significantly. Aggressive capacity expansion and innovation are a perfect combination for growth and value creation.</p>



<h2>Solid Power (SLDP)</h2>

SLDP stock had traded at highs of $15 in November 2021. The decline from those levels has been sustained, with the stock at $1.64. I, however, believe that the downside is capped at current levels. Further, with positive business developments, the upside potential is significant.</p>



<p>In terms of business progress, Solid Power achieved an electrolyte production capability of 1.1 million metric tons annually. Further, A-1 sample cells were delivered to automotive customers for validation testing.</p>



<p>The <a href="https://www.solidpowerbattery.com/investor-relations/investor-news/news-details/2024/Solid-Power-and-SK-On-Deepen-Partnership-with-New-Agreements/default.aspx">strengthening of its partnership agreement</a> with <strong>SK On</strong> will ensure the company makes inroads in the Korean markets. SK On will use Solid Power&rsquo;s cell technology for research and development and to solid-state produce batteries in Korea.</p>



<p>With a focus on producing safer and high-performance cells, Solid Power has been <a href="https://www.solidpowerbattery.com/investor-relations/investor-news/news-details/2024/Solid-Power-Full-Year-2023-Results-Reflect-Strong-Execution/default.aspx">working on A-2 sample cells</a> in 2024. Positive news from automotive companies after validation testing can be a major upside catalyst for SLDP stock.</p>



<h2>Lithium Americas (LAC)</h2>

That would imply strong demand for lithium, and the long-term outlook indicates an <a href="https://www.bcg.com/publications/2022/the-lithium-supply-crunch-doesnt-have-to-stall-electric-cars">acute supply gap.</a> The big correction in lithium is, therefore, a good opportunity to accumulate quality stocks.</p>



<p><strong>Lithium Americas</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lac-stock-quote/"><strong>LAC</strong></a></span>) is an attractive name to consider for multibagger returns. The lithium miner looks undervalued, and the company&rsquo;s asset will likely be a cash flow machine after 2027.</p>



<p>To put things into perspective, the Thacker Pass asset has a mine life of 40 years. Further, the asset has an <a href="https://lithiumamericas.com/files/doc_presentation/2024/04/LAC-Corporate-Presentation.pdf">after-tax net present value</a> of $5.7 billion. Once both phases of the asset commence production, the average annual EBITDA is expected at $2 billion.</p>

<p><a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/consumer-discretionary/automotive/electric-vehicles/">Electric vehicle (<span>EV</span>) stocks</a> are in a good place after having a hard time growing last year due to slowing demand in major markets like the U.S. and China. However, sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) around the world are expected <a href="https://www.spglobal.com/mobility/en/research-analysis/2024-ev-forecast-the-supply-chain-charging-network-and-battery.html">to reach 13.3 million units</a> in 2024, up from 12% in 2023. They will account for 16.2% of all private car sales.</p>



<p>There were <a href="https://insideevs.com/news/711314/global-plugin-car-sales-january2024/#:~:text=In%20January%202024%2C%20global%20registrations,%2Dover%2Dyear%20growth%20rate.">more than a million EV sales</a> around the world in January 2024. Most of those sales happened in the U.S. As of now, there are <a href="https://www.iea.org/reports/global-ev-outlook-2024/trends-in-electric-cars#:~:text=Almost%2014%20million%20new%20electric,year%2Don%2Dyear%20increase.">more than 40 million electric cars</a> on the roads around the world. In 2022, 26 million EVs were sold, which shows how quickly they are becoming hot.</p>



<p>In this kind of market, one North American company is known for its competitive price and creative ways of boosting output and fixing money problems. </p>



<p>At the same time, a Chinese market winner is quickly spreading around the world. In the past few months, this company has sold more batteries than any Western rival. </p>



<p>And finally, a global tech giant is making more high-capacity batteries to help EVs run. This company wants to make more things in a lot more places, and they want all of their products to help electric vehicles and the energy economy.</p>



<h2>Lion Electric (LEV)</h2>

Top-Rated EV Charging stocks"><div>Source: shutterstock.com/Dmytro_Yushchenko</div></div><p><strong>Lion Electric </strong>(NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lev-stock-quote/"><strong>LEV</strong></a></span>) starts this list of quality EV stocks, and its name might strike several investors as odd. it&rsquo;s not exactly a <strong>Tesla</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/"><strong>TSLA</strong></a></span>) or a <strong>Nio</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nio-stock-quote/"><strong>NIO</strong></a></span>). LEV is a penny stock at 92 cents, yet it has a 206% upside.</p>



<p>In Q4 2023, <a href="https://news.futunn.com/en/post/38705666/earnings-call-summary-the-lion-electric-levus-q4-2023-earnings">LEV delivered 188 automobiles</a>, up from 174 in 2022. With 852 automobiles delivered in 2023, up from 519 in 2022, production and sales were excellent.</p>



<p>The firm lost $56.5 million in Q4 2023 and $103.8 million overall owing to heavy expenditure that outweighed revenue growth. Delivery and sales have slowed due to government subsidy delays complicating operations.</p>



<p>Lion Electric lost money in 2023 despite expanding sales due to manufacturing and raw material costs. To save money, <a href="https://www.truckingdive.com/news/lion-electric-layoffs-april-2024-120-workers/713880/#:~:text=The%20loss%20followed%20a%20%2412.9,its%20Saint%2DJerome%20manufacturing%20facility.">the corporation cut staff</a>, mainly on the Saint-Jerome night shift.</p>



<p>On a brighter note, Lion Electric <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lion-electric-inaugurates-its-battery-manufacturing-factory-for-medium-and-heavy-duty-vehicles-301799083.html">established a Mirabel battery factory</a> to boost output. A $50 million government loan will support this project.</p>



<p>Moreover, Lion Electric wants to increase orders and deliveries in 2024 while decreasing costs and managing liquidity in a challenging market. The factory will certainly help.</p>



<p>Finally, <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/lion-awarded-38-million-part-221500023.html">Lion Electric won $38 million</a> from the EPA Clean School Bus Program. This financing will help U.S. school districts buy 97 electric school buses and charging infrastructure, decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing zero-emission transportation. The government deal boosts its legitimacy among EV stocks.</p>



<h2>BYD (BYDDF)</h2>

Schneider / Shutterstock</div></div><p>In China, <strong>BYD</strong> (OTCMKTS: <span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/byddf-stock-quote/"><strong>BYDDF</strong></a></span>) <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/teslas-fourth-quarter-deliveries-beat-estimates-2024-01-02/">sold more electric cars</a> than Tesla (526,409 to 484,507) from October to December, <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/BYDDF/forecast">justifying its 22% upside</a> and strong buy rating.</p>



<p>EV sales went up by 48% in January 2024, according to BYD. The data indicates it, once again, pulled ahead of Tesla. This rise is due to exports, which shows that BYD has a world reach and it&rsquo;s now <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/byd-may-hand-back-top-ev-seller-title-tesla-after-q1-sales-decline-2024-04-02/">targeting 3.6 million unit sales</a> for 2024.</p>



<p>Powering forward, BYDDF is investing in battery technology by building its first sodium-ion battery plant. This <a href="https://autos.yahoo.com/tesla-rival-automaker-breaks-ground-023000699.html#:~:text=The%20world's%20largest%20electric%20vehicle,of%20capacity%20annually%2C%20Electrek%20reported.">$1.4 billion plant</a> will produce EV batteries that are smaller and cheaper than lithium-ion ones.</p>



<p>The <a href="https://electrek.co/2024/04/08/byd-launch-next-gen-ev-battery-more-range-lower-price/">next-generation Blade Battery</a>, set to come out in 2024, will increase range and drop costs by making BYD&rsquo;s EVs easier to obtain. This battery will use BYD&rsquo;s Electrok program to reduce the use of gas-powered cars.</p>



<p>At 2024 Dream Day, BYD <a href="https://www.byd.com/us/news-list/BYD-Showcased-Intelligence-Advancement-Dream-Day-2024.html">showed off its XUANJI Architecture</a> and Integrated Vehicle Intelligence. Using information and energy, this technology makes cars safer, more comfortable and better at what they do.</p>



<p>At the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024, BYD <a href="https://www.byd.com/us/news-list/BYD-Debuts-4-Models-at-Indonesia-International-Motor-Show-2024.html">showcased four cars</a> for the Indonesian market. This was part of the company&rsquo;s plan to expand worldwide and promote green transportation.</p>



<p>All in all, BYD is steadily improving battery technology, smart driving technologies, EV sales and market share among competitive EV stocks.</p>



<h2>Panasonic (PCRFY)</h2>

Undervalued battery stocks"><div>Source: IM Imagery / Shutterstock.com</div></div><p><strong>Panasonic</strong>&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pcrfy-stock-quote/"><strong>PCRFY</strong></a>) wants to be able to make 200 gigawatt hours (GWh) of EV battery cells every year by 2031, which is four times what it does now. <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/panasonic-plans-new-battery-production-capacity-north-america-by-2030-2023-05-18/">Two or more new plants</a> will be built as part of this development to make 4,680 battery cells by 2030.</p>



<p>The company is about to start mass production of a battery with a higher capacity, which will probably make EVs go farther and run better. This includes both the older 2170 cells in current Tesla models <a href="https://insideevs.com/news/677885/tesla-cybertruck-4680-cells-boast-10-percent-higher-energy-density/">and the 4680 cells</a>, predicted to have a lot more energy and a lot more power.</p>



<p>Panasonic is <a href="https://tedmag.com/panasonic-energy-invests-in-ev-battery-production/#:~:text=In%20line%20with%20Panasonic%20Energy's%20Medium%2D%20to%20Long%2Dterm%20Strategy,start%20in%202025%20from%20NOVONIX's">also going to manufacture</a> sustainable graphite for its electric vehicle batteries in factories in the United States. This is part of Panasonic&rsquo;s plan to improve its supply chain and lower its impact on the environment.</p>



<p>In De Soto, Kansas, <a href="https://na.panasonic.com/us/news/panasonic-energy-breaks-ground-ev-battery-factory-kansas">a new battery factory</a> is being built. Panasonic plans to use it to make cylindrical Li-ion batteries for EVs, which will increase its production capacity and help Tesla and other automakers.</p>
