A new Morning Consult <a href="https://pro.morningconsult.com/trackers/2024-presidential-election-polling?utm_source=briefing&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=washington_am&amp;utm_content=102924">poll </a>of likely voters shows Harris' lead dropping, continuing a recent string of a lead of six points shrinking.
The new poll shows the following results from voters, with results from<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/politics/24/10/41477318/trump-vs-harris-vice-president-holds-slim-lead-losing-momentum-in-key-demographics-favorability-" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;the Oct. 22 poll&nbsp;</a>in parentheses:

Independent voters selected the following as their head-to-head preference, with the results from the Oct. 22 poll in parentheses:

Why It&#8217;s Important: Harris&#8217; lead over Trump dropped to three points, down from a four-point lead in the past two weeks. The lead is down from a six-point lead Harris had several weeks ago.  
After seeing her lead decline in the key Independent and young voter demographics, Harris grew the lead in these two important voter segments with one week until Election Day.
Morning Consult said in the poll that 45% of likely voters said they had heard something positive about Harris, keeping a trend of the vice president having positive net buzz in place. The poll found that 49% of likely voters said they had recently heard something negative about Trump.
The good news for Trump in the poll, along with shrinking Harris' overall lead, is the Republican party being favored on several key election issues. The Republicans were more favored in the poll on items such as the economy, national security and immigration over the Democratic Party. In the poll, the Democratic Party was more favored on health care, climate change and abortion versus the Republican Party.

Harris Vs. Trump: Vice President's Lead Shrinks, Key Demographic Grows One Week Before 2024 Election Day

A legal dispute between the companies behind popular television game shows &#8220;Wheel of Fortune&#8221; and &#8220;Jeopardy!&#8221; <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SONY">has broken out</a>.
What To Know: Sony Group Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SONY#NYSE">SONY</a>) and CBS, which is owned by Paramount Global (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PARA#NASDAQ">PARA</a>)(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PARAA#NASDAQ">PARAA</a>), have worked together on the iconic game shows for years. Sony produces &#8220;Wheel of Fortune&#8221; and &#8220;Jeopardy!&#8221; and CBS oversees the distribution.
Sony on Thursday filed a lawsuit against CBS, claiming the company earned distribution fees from unauthorized deals and has become incapable of properly distributing the shows, according to a Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/media/jeopardy-and-wheel-of-fortune-at-center-of-legal-feud-between-sony-and-cbs-d744b6fc">report</a>.
Sony alleged that CBS has assigned improper value to the shows to serve its own interests, including licensing the shows at prices below market rates and favoring its own shows when setting up distribution deals or selling ads. 
CBS has been in charge of distribution for the game shows since 1999, receiving 35% to 40% commissions on the fees television stations pay to carry the shows. The report indicates that typical distribution commissions are usually closer to 15%. &#8220;Wheel of Fortune&#8221; and &#8220;Jeopardy!&#8221; generate more than $100 million in profits each year, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Sony claimed CBS entered into long-term contract agreements with networks in New Zealand and Australia, which breaches contract terms that prohibit the company from signing deals that span more than two years.
Sony also alleged that layoffs at CBS have negatively impacted the teams that work on the iconic shows. 
"CBS has gutted the teams responsible for fulfilling its contractual obligations, requiring us to step in at our own expense," Sony said in a statement.
Sony reportedly said it&#8217;s seeking damages and plans to try to end its agreement with CBS to pursue alternative distribution and advertising partners. 
Shares of CBS parent Paramount Global were down 0.37% in after-hours, trading at $10.90 at the time of publication Thursday, per <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>.

A recent analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveals that workers in the food service and hospitality industries are among the highest consumers of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/22/01/25169588/how-cannabis-legalization-is-changing-the-american-workplace">marijuana in the United States. </a>
The study, <a href="https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/10.2105/AJPH.2024.307788">published</a> in the American Journal of Public Health, draws from five years of federal health survey data, specifically the CDC's Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) from 2016 to 2020.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Key Findings From The Study</h3>
Researchers gathered data from 128,615 individuals across 15 states, including Alaska, Colorado, Florida and Illinois. They discovered significant variations in cannabis use across different industries and occupations.

For instance, about 20.7% of employees in accommodation and food services reported using marijuana and 17.5% in arts, entertainment and recreation field. In contrast, law enforcement showed the lowest prevalence, with only 0.5% of workers reporting recent use.
When examined by occupation, food preparation and serving-related jobs led with 21.9%, followed by roles in arts and media at 17.0%. Interestingly, jobs in education and healthcare showed lower rates, with only 5.7% and 4.7% reporting cannabis use, respectively. Overall, the study found that approximately 10.7% of workers aged 18 and older reported past-month cannabis use.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Implications For Workplace Policies</h3>
The researchers noted that the findings can shape future discussions on workplace policies concerning drug use. They pointed out the need for strategies that minimize the risks associated with cannabis consumption, especially in industries prone to high injury rates like construction and forestry. 
"The primary goal for both employers and employees should be to limit the risk of injury while maintaining productivity," the report states.
Despite mixed evidence regarding the relationship between cannabis use and workplace accidents, concerns linger, particularly in safety-sensitive roles. 
"More research is needed to understand factors driving cannabis use in high-risk industries," the authors noted. They also called for clarity on how much cannabis use might affect job performance, stressing that many workers may consume cannabis outside of working hours.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Changing Legal Landscape And Workplace Drug Testing</h3>
As cannabis legalization continues to spread across the U.S., employers and policymakers are reevaluating drug testing protocols. Notably, companies like Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/08/40611728/home-depot-to-end-marijuana-testing-limit-screening-for-most-employees-internal-memo-reveals">Home Depot Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HD#NYSE">HD</a>) have altered their drug screening practices</a>, moving away from pre-employment cannabis testing.
Some states have enacted laws to protect employees from discrimination related to lawful off-duty cannabis use, such as California and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/02/31026805/job-seekers-relax-cannabis-use-no-longer-a-barrier-to-employment-in-washington-state">Washington.</a>
In New Jersey, ongoing litigation has emerged over police officers testing positive for THC, revealing conflicts between local governance and state guidelines. Meanwhile, Cleveland Ohio&#8217;s Mayor Justin Bibb announced changes to city job drug testing policies to align with the new cannabis laws.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Shifts In Sports And Cannabis Policies</h3>
Professional sports leagues are also revisiting their cannabis policies in response to changing societal views on marijuana. The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB) have both removed marijuana from their banned substances lists. 
The NCAA followed suit for Division I athletes, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has revised its stance as well.
However, there remains criticism of the World Anti-Doping Agency's ongoing prohibition of cannabis, especially following high-profile cases like that of the world&#8217;s fastest female runner Sha'Carri Richardson who was banned from <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/21/07/22025295/the-prohibition-of-cannabis-robbed-shacarri-richardson-but-also-expedited-the-federal-decriminal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">competing at the Tokyo Olympics</a> for testing positive for cannabis in 2021.

The Details: Intel reported an EPS loss of 46 cents against an estimate of a loss of two cents. Quarterly revenue clocked in at $13.28 billion, which beat the consensus estimate of $13.02 billion.
&#8220;Our Q3 results underscore the solid progress we are making against the plan we outlined last quarter to reduce costs, simplify our portfolio and improve organizational efficiency. We delivered revenue above the midpoint of our guidance, and are acting with urgency to position the business for sustainable value creation moving forward,&#8221; said Pat Gelsinger, Intel CEO.
