Q1 Earnings:&nbsp;The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.03, beating the<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;analyst consensus of 87 cents</a>. The company reported quarterly revenues of $3.595 billion, beating the street view of $3.509 billion.
Sales increased 6% year over year primarily due to increased demand for the company&#8217;s products, partially offset by the negative impact of foreign currencies.
Gross profit in the quarter under review increased to $644 million from $577 million in the year-ago period. Gross margin expanded to 17.9% from 17.1%.
BorgWarner&nbsp;exited the first quarter with cash and equivalents worth $1.037 billion, with net inventories totaling $1.33 billion.
The company&#8217;s long-term debt&nbsp;at the quarter end&nbsp;stood at $3.295 billion.
Buyback Announcement:&nbsp;BorgWarner&nbsp;announced that it&nbsp;has authorized an additional share repurchase program of up to&nbsp;$500 million&nbsp;to&nbsp;be executed&nbsp;over the next three years.&nbsp;
Combined with the&nbsp;$267 million&nbsp;remaining under the company&#8217;s prior authorization, BorgWarner has authorization to repurchase up to&nbsp;$767 million&nbsp;of its outstanding shares.
Outlook:&nbsp;The company raised the FY24 adjusted EPS outlook to&nbsp;$3.80-$4.15&nbsp;versus&nbsp;the $3.90 estimate<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;(prior view: $3.65-$4.00)</a>.
BorgWarner&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/37003245" rel="noreferrer noopener">reiterated&nbsp;</a>its net sales outlook for 2024 in the range of&nbsp;$14.4&nbsp;billion to&nbsp;$14.9&nbsp;billion (consensus $14.758 billion), implying a year-over-year increase in organic sales of 2% to 5%.&nbsp;
Operating margin for the&nbsp;full&nbsp;year&nbsp;is expected&nbsp;to be&nbsp;in the range of&nbsp;8.2% to 8.5% (prior view: 8.5% to 8.9%).

BorgWarner Stock Jumps On Q1 Earnings: Revenues Beat, $500M Buyback, Strong Guidance, And More

The <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/04/38482843/americans-split-on-biden-vs-trump-but-nearly-half-of-all-voters-crave-an-alternative-new-poll-shows">tight 2024 presidential race </a>that is widely predicted by several opinion polls was confirmed by yet another on Wednesday.
The Match-Ups: President Joe Biden led Donald Trump by two points in a nationwide <a href="https://maristpoll.marist.edu/polls/2024-race-for-the-white-house-may01/">survey</a> by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist. The president had the support of 50% of the registered voters, two points more than the 48% Trump received. The count included those undecided voters, who were asked to pick one based on which way they would be leaning toward.
Biden&#8217;s lead over Trump increased when the preference of only those who said they would definitely vote was factored in. The former scored 52% compared to the latter&#8217;s 47%.
The poll conducted between April 22 and 26 surveyed 1199 adults, including 1,109 registered voters, with the margin of error at +/-3.7 percentage points.
Voters having unfavorable opinions about both candidates, called &#8220;double haters&#8221; were evenly divided, with 45% supporting Biden and 46% Trump.
Trump has gained ground among independents, as his support increased from 49% to 51%, while Biden&#8217;s support in this category fell from 49% to 44%.
In a multi-candidate fray, Biden and Trump were deadlocked with 42% support each. In the previous poll, Biden had a five-point lead over Trump when independent and third-party candidates were included on the ballot. The recent poll showed 11% support for Robert Kennedy Jr. and 2% each for Cornel West and Jill Stein.
&#8220;Voters are dissatisfied with the major party candidates for president. Although this could open the door for a third-party candidate, no one is filling the void,&#8221; says Lee Miringoff, Director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion.

Poor Approval Rating: Biden and Trump had an unfavorable score of 54% and 56%, respectively. The president&#8217;s job approval rating was at an anemic 41%.
&#8220;Americans are skeptical of the messages both candidates are communicating,&#8221; the pollster said. Only 35% of Americans said the things Biden tells the American people are mostly true. A more modest 30% said Trump mostly tells Americans things that are true while 39%.
Americans were also not overly optimistic about the fate of democracy with either of the candidates.
The percentage of Republicans who said the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/08/33591969/trumps-attorney-defends-2020-election-actions-as-exercise-of-free-speech-ex-president-was-aspiration">former president engaged in something unethical </a>but not illegal increased from 34% in February to 46% currently. The proportion who said Trump did something illegal remained unchanged at 8%, while the share of GOP voters saying Trump has done nothing wrong fell from 55% to 45%.
