General Dynamics Awarded $11 Million Information Management Contract by U.S. Department of the Interior

FAIRFAX, Va., April 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics GD, has been awarded a task order under the General Services Administration's Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70 contract to provide information management support services to the U.S. Department of the Interior's (DOI) Minerals Management Service (MMS). The task order is valued at $10.5 million over five years if all options are exercised.

Under the task order, General Dynamics will support MMS' Office of Information Management Services (OIMS) and regional program offices with the coordination and planning of the Gulf of Mexico Region's information management activities. The Offshore Energy and Minerals Management (OEMM) program is responsible for minerals resource management on more than 1.76 billion acres of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).

General Dynamics will provide data collection, analysis, imaging and data retrieval/delivery services, as well as Geological Interpretive Tools (GIT) support and seismic data archiving. Additionally, the company will establish and administer quality assurance standards and policies, perform comparative analysis on oil and gas data, maintain records in accordance with MMS practices and assist in editing and publication support. The work will be performed in New Orleans, La.

The OEMM program conducts competitive oil and gas lease sales, negotiates non-competitive leases for sand and gravel, and manages the mineral development process.
