Duthie Power Services Generator Technicians achieve EGSA Journeyman Certification

Duthie Power Services, a member of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA), is proud to announce eight of its generator technicians successfully passed the EGSA Journeyman training. In addition, a new class of five more technicians are pursuing Journeyman certification, as part of Duthie Power's commitment to sponsor its technicians through this training.

LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 2, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Duthie Power Services, a member of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA), is proud to announce eight of its generator technicians successfully passed the EGSA Journeyman training. In addition, a new class of five more technicians are pursuing Journeyman certification, as part of Duthie Power's commitment to sponsor its technicians through this training.

There is a myriad of benefits to achieving EGSA certification, not the least of which is the professional endorsement of a technician's skills and accomplishments on a national level. The exam covers everything from the principles of electricity to system communications and alternative energy sources. Per the EGSA website, "A passing grade on the EGSA Journeyman exam assures an employer that a technician meets or exceeds 3 years of practical field experience. This exam tests in 61 individual areas of expertise (certification valid for 5 years)."

Randy Gross, Head of Sales and Quality Assurance at Duthie Power Services, oversees the program, and serves as the exam proctor. "The generator technicians at Duthie Power Services have decades of experience in the field, but we felt strongly about investing in this certification to demonstrate the depth of their knowledge and expertise."

This educational initiative is facilitated by another EGSA member company, Prime Power, whose online test prep program allows businesses across the country to train large groups of technicians. "We've been able to easily integrate these training sessions into our technicians' schedules," explains Dewey Brunson, Duthie Power Service Manager. "Technicians participate in a 60-day program with a comprehensive review session halfway through to ensure they're on track with the learning management system."

The first class of Duthie Power technicians to receive Journeyman Certification include Steve Saari, Neil Dao, Tim Brownsworth, Lorenzo Riestra, Jack Greenberg, Ignacio Valladolid, Danny Le, and Brandon Charlberg. "The EGSA journeyman test prep course ensured our techs would pass the journeyman test with flying colors," adds Randy Gross. A second class of five technicians is mid-program and aims to achieve certification by year's end.

Randy Gross and Carlos Cestero will also be representing Duthie Power at EGSA's Fall 2023 Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
