DICKSON, Tenn. (PRWEB) April 20, 2022

As Freed-Hardeman University is announcing a teach-out plan for students currently seeking a bachelor's degree at FHU/Dickson, the university has contracted leading luxury real estate auction marketing firm J.P. King to auction the iconic Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee.

"Our first priority is students, as we make this necessary change," FHU President David R. Shannon said. "We have developed a plan to continue teaching classes in Dickson for students currently pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing, so that they may complete their degrees locally. FHU will offer scholarships for those students who already are in the pipeline to be accepted for admission this fall. Those funds can be used at our FHU campus in Henderson for their bachelor's degree or during the fall 2022 semester at another college or university if they choose. Staff members are discussing the details of these options with each student."

Shannon added, "We are thankful for the 543 students and 163 graduates who have allowed us to be part of their academic journeys, in addition to the individuals and organizations who have supported these students in strengthening their futures through FHU/Dickson."

The Jackson Foundation created the Renaissance Center in 1999. At the time, it was an $18 million building with $7 million of fixtures, furniture, equipment and technology. In 2013, the foundation gifted the building to FHU, stating that foundation leadership wanted to focus on education and programs and not brick and mortar.

"We are committed to being good stewards of everything that God has entrusted in our care," Shannon said. "Keeping this custom, 100,000-square-foot space when we need less than 15% of it is not sustainable, as we fulfill our mission in our 152nd year of higher education. We look forward to seeing another organization thrive in this beautiful space and strengthen the community. We are committed to continuing to serve the region through our growing programs and enrollment at our Henderson campus and Memphis location."

"We are honored to work with Freed-Hardeman University in the sale of the Renaissance Center. We specialize in selling exclusive and unique properties like this on a national level," J.P. King President and CEO J. Craig King said. "For more than 100 years, our business has connected the perfect buyers with one-of-a-kind real estate like the Renaissance Center. This beautiful facility means a great deal to the community, and we are seeking a win for everyone." The sale will be held online, with bidding closing June 28, 2022; those interested can learn more at jpking.com/properties/855-tennessee-highway-46-dickson-tn-37055/ or by calling 800-662-5464.
