Zack Rosenburg, the founding CEO of the disaster recovery nonprofit SBP and co-author of "Getting Home", will keynote the 32nd annual Shingo Conference on April 17, 2020.

BOSTON (PRWEB) February 27, 2020

Getting Home is the inspiring story of a defense lawyer and a schoolteacher who left their careers to rebuild homes for desperate survivors of Hurricane Katrina but wound up reconstructing the entire process for rebuilding after disasters. Authors Liz McCartney and Zack Rosenburg describe how SBP, the disaster relief nonprofit they founded, partnered with Toyota to apply the #lean principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS) to shrink the timeline for rebuilding homes following hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods.

Rosenburg will share SBP's true continuous improvement story – successes and challenges – in a keynote presentation at the 32nd annual Shingo Conference on Friday, April 17, 2020, in Orlando, according to the Boston-based nonprofit publisher Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI).

Rosenburg will reveal:

  • A proven new rebuilding model for making #disasterrecovery faster, more predictable, and with much less emotional and financial distress for victims;
  • A practical story of how citizens and governments can improve #disasterpreparedness;
  • The importance of understanding intolerable conditions, and how to address them through root-cause problem solving;
  • Why expertise is unnecessary if you have the right mindset;
  • The importance of culture and workplace identity;
  • Examples that inspire the use of TPS.

The annual conference is sponsored by the Shingo Institute, part of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. The institute is named for the late Shigeo Shingo, a key contributor to the development of lean management principles. For more information and to register, visit the conference web page.
